Tried the search feature and couldn't get anything. Anyone running a winch? Looking for mounting idea's. Pretty sure I'll end up fabricating a winch plate system to go in the reese hitch, just wondering if anyone has done it yet/pictures.

Thanks.

Unibody makes this a difficult thing but a plate could be fabricated between the front tow points. Not sure what modifications would be needed to the front bumper to make that happen. Even then you would want to be cautious about pulling "off-axis".

I went down this rabbit hole; it’s annoying because almost every other unibody based offroad car has a workable hidden winch setup, but nothing yet for the sport

Based on a LOT of looking at diagrams and said comparable models, the best bet would be to replace the front crash bar. You’d most likely have to trim off the bottom active shutters, but the frame it bolts into should be plenty strong; this is the same frame point the front tow hooks are in

It’s VERY cramped behind the bumper, but thankfully the sport doesn’t weigh that much so we could probably get away with a compact 6-8k winch. Would look something like this:

That one is just slapped on the bull bar if I recall them talking another the build; even if it was functional that bar is not even close to structurally rated for where it bolts up. The only bull bar I’ve seen actually recovery rated is the FordRangerLifts one

I had been noodling the idea of putting a receiver up front and using a removable winch mount. The versatility of both front and rear winching as well as not having to lug it full time is tempting. Just don’t know if that’s a realistic.

I would be hesitant to believe the FordRangerLifts nudge bar is recovery rated unless they at a minimum also attached with the 30mm bolts that sit at the rear of the Badlands Towhook in addition to the front bolts. Otherwise there is no reason to believe they are rated for the same work as the factory Badlands towhooks

Does it not tie in back there? In that case there probably ARENT any recovery rated bars I’ve seen

I don't see install instructions listed online for it, but from the images and the fact that it fits non-badlands models, it appears to only attach with the two face bolts on each side that any other manufacturer nudge bar attaches to

Dude! Is that video posted somewhere?
Yes, on my youtube channel "Low Range in Nova Scotia"

This was last year with our new BS "Daisy" which wasn't on bigger tires or lifted like our 2021 BS named "Baby" that was in the last video. (wrote the 2021 off on black ice)

Can a simple 3 ton cable puller winch connected to tow hooks be used with proper cables and straps?

we call it a “come along” in these parts….

Yes, I have one stored in my overhead cargo. Just know they are not quick, nor easy. But short of getting one of those odd wheel winches, kinda the best solution for the front end
