I traded my OB for a Maverick XLT with the 4K tow package. I liked the sport but the 1.5's transmission was heating up on long hills towing 2K. Planning on some larger hills so I figured it was time. Towed fine otherwise on the flats but the Maverick AWD with the 2.0 and larger transmission cooling system for 4K towing doesn't even know my teardrop is back there. With the longer wheelbase the Mav rides smoother on the road than my Outer Banks Sport did and it has a lot more power for towing. Test drove a hybrid Mav before I bought the 2.0 ecoboost. If that was my only choice I would have kept the Sport.

I did the opposite. After waiting a year, my 2022 Maverick arrived and I loved it. I’ve driven pickup trucks exclusively since 1974. but, after the continual recall notices, some were not specific to mine and the continual deep sleep mode issues, I traded it in at a one thousand dollar loss for a 2022 OuterBanks with 11k and in mint condition. It took a few months to get through the realization that I no longer had a truck bed, but today I’m so happy I did. Good luck in your decision.

The Ranger is anything but small. It's the size the F150 use to be and the F150 is now huge.

Some people don't want to drive a huge truck everyday, and pay the premium price, just to have the utility of a bed when they need it.

The funny thing is, on this forum, the Badlands is all the rage because it's the only way to get the 2.0 engine. On the Maverick, it's the base motor. To get an AWD 2.0 Maverick XL, it's $27860 compared to $39985 for a BS Badlands. And if AWD isn't important to you you can get a FWD XL 2.0 for the whopping price of $24995. $14k less than the Badlands but with the same motor.

"But the Maverick doesn't have advanced 4x4." Even if you step up to the Maverick XLT Tremor with the advanced 4x4, it's still only $34275, Over $5k less than a Badlands.

More like 2 feet off the tailgate.

In the end, these are 2 different types of vehicles to fit different needs. Get what you like and what suits your needs. They're both great.

Back to the OP which was talking about the hybrid. Can't beat the mileage. ?

Great older post in this revived thread. Love the plywood pic - Love all the possible configurations of both the Bronco Sport and the Maverick - One way the Maverick could be better is if it looked like a Bronco Sport!

2024 Car and Driver article states: "Ford says the Maverick's 4.5-foot bed can fit up to 18 sheets of four-by-eight-foot three-quarter-inch plywood......."

For those that have or have had a Maverick, it seems like the seating position is lower down than in the BS. In other words, that you sit lower down and the visibility probably isn't as good. Is that accurate? I'd like to test drive one, but the nearest dealer is 2.5 hours away, so I am asking here first.

I feel no difference on the interior seating height. Controls are the same as my Sport. Everything in my Maverick XLT feels pretty much the same as my Bronco Sport. The Mav overall seems to sit a little higher. My Bronco Sport all weather floor mats fit my Mav perfectly. The shape of the hood is an improvement over the Sport as I don't get blinded by reflection as much if I'm driving into the sun at dawn or dusk.

As far as someone above saying they wish the grills were the same, I actually like the looks of my Mavericks front end.

I have to agree with you on the Mav front end design. I like it more than the BS. But the Bronco Sport was designed with its heritage in mind, at least for its first generation.

Here's how a Tremor and a Badlands look side by side fresh off transport. Both with optional 235/65R17 tire size.

Yep, I parked next to an FX4 the other day and I have a Big Bend. It seems like the roofline is lower on the Maverick and that’s what makes me think you may sit lower in the Maverick and not have such a clear view. I really like how the dash is low on the BS and I can see really well.

How does the Maverick's ground clearance compare to the BS's?
