No way! K&N says 16 more hp. Are you suggesting it's marketing dept might be embellishing? I think they would say they are just giving the truth a bit of scope.
LOL @ 16 more hp. Read any of the fine print or see how they actually come up with those numbers. No tune good luck getting anything close to that in the real world or on a dyno . It's just like in the Mustang world. See it all of the time. Get a cai without a tune then people wonder why it ends up nothing but eye candy.

I hear ya but I would be super embarrassed if I got caught drag racing a three banger.
The image in my head is two boys on tricycle’s pedaling their asses off.
Sorry, I just miss my Cutlass Olds 442 and my Chevelle.
You mean Model T?

Hmmm. So what's your position on catch cans?
Since the 1.5's are port and direct injection and already has an oil seperator they aren't needed, but it doesn't hurt if one wants one. Direct injection and turbo they dont hurt at all. They do collect oil. I always run them on my 5.0 Mustang's just like the local Mustang shop and put one on the Sport just because of curiosity on how much would end up in it. Will I keep it on long term on the Sport? Doubt it. Oil catch cans will always be one of those debatable things. They are more useful for track use or racing, but that's not going to happen with Bronco's.

IN the process of returning a K&N CAI Kit, NO improvement in performance or mileage and on top of that you get a grinding noise every time you step on the gas. Not worth the $400 they are asking. NOT RECOMMENDED !!

AFE makes a much better CAI, they are claiming 13rwhp peak and 16rwhp at 4700 rpm.

This can be had for $414.00
That may work for you. I had a CAI for a V6 Mustang that required a tune. Completely different performance. I looked for my EcoBoost Mustang, none required a tune, so within OEM specs. Passed on those. My opinion: anything that doesn’t require a tuner will give minimal gains. Also, I live in Arizona, so no cold air here anyway.

Yeah, I run a K&N on my Tiger (hungry V8), which doesn’t rack up that many miles and is always on pavement. I thinks it works great there, and cleaning is less problem than finding a air filter for a ’66 British car <lol>. Don’t think I’ll ever run other than an OEM filter on the BS

My bad, thought we were discussing the $79 filter not some $379 device.
I got the $79 filter you said, 2.0l, I ain't feel or see any difference, but it's a nice sticker for the door jam haha

Initially, I thought "damn, $414"! Then I realized I'm spending over a grand on the cargo management system ...
Are you for real?! I know the CMS is over $1,000usd but are you getting it seriously?!

I wouldn't and won't run any CAI on my BL. I feel on these cars its a waste. On my 2024 BMW M2 BMC filters are worth 9rwhp on my G87. I went from 462-471rwhp with just the BMC filters. BMW rates these cars at 453hp, my ass.

I recently saw a video on YT with the K&N CAI swap on a BS, and it sounded absolutely awful. Ridiculous turbo hiss/screech every time he let off the accelerator. Hard pass.

If I did my math right (check me!), that's about a 2% increase.

Correct, I am not going to tune this thing. Just simple bolt ons. I am going to add a midpipe that removes the secondary cats and the 2 large resonators. This generally adds another 10-15rwhp. This car runs 119mph already in the 1/4mile and I am a manual not the ZF 8spd. The S58 motor in these things are beasts and are severly underrated in hp. This car is more like the 500+ hp at the flywheel not the wheels.

Was just wondering if the k and n intake is a good idea or bad idea for the dragon thanks in advance
Open element? Under the hood? No connection to the snorkel? Wouldn't be my choice. I went with the afe after my tune. It's enclosed and utilizes the snorkel. It offers a few more inches of filtration which is cleanable, and that was what I was after as I hit the trails occasionally. I have a spare filter I swap out when I clean.
