Desert damage.
My March order / June build finally made it out of the Mexico desert with its chips, 9 month later! The fuel pipe recall was done when it got to the dealership.
The dealer called to get the paperwork started and pick up the vehicle. So with one thing and another I couldn’t pick up this afternoon, Friday. So stopped down after hours to check it out. I’m not sure what is normal but I was surprised to see all the plastic covers on the seats etc and clearly nobody had even thrown a bucket of soapy water over it. What was a lot more disappointing was somebody had ripped off the white plastic protective on the black paint. But there was still all the adhesive left on the bodywork! I doubt this was meant to be left on for 6 months. I hope they don’t use carb cleaner to remove it and ruin the paint!
what else can I expect?

My dealer noticed water spots on mine after they did their normal cleaning, so they had it detailed. I just picked mine up on Thursday, and it looked perfect.

The detail guy shows up once week at my dealer. Is rained on that day two weeks in a row.
How about this week? He comes on Thursdays... Maybe next week.

My BS from the desert arrived at the dealer at the end of October needing the FLM recall. I got the call today that it’s fixed and I can come get it so I’m going on Sunday. Hoping everything goes smoothly. Thought I’d let people know parts are coming in. Mines in Portland, OR.

Finally out of the desert! Brought some dirt and dust with it but nothing they couldn’t get off. Very happy with the ride so far. Picked it up Friday 11/19 after it arrived Wednesday night 11/17.
Well take her out and get some new dust and dirt on it!!!! Glad it arrived!!!!

Well 11/27 came and went and ETA is still 11/27. I call dealer yesterday to get status. Dealer lady said she will check and call back. She calls back and says "Its in transit" and "it is not here" and "we will call you when it arrives" and then mumbled something about "be patient". I didn't push the issue just told her thanks. They don't want to check Visibility Report and give the real status that is how they roll.

What does the tracker on this forum say? Mine was accurate to the day on the ETA. Does that one say 11/27 too?

It doesn’t say delivered so they must be telling the truth that its still in transit. It will say delivered once it arrives it will update in realtime.

Test drove looked it over. Had 26 miles on it. No water spots in paint and they said only needed a wash. Cant tell its been sitting. Had chip by front head light like others reported body shop was able to touch up while I wait. Waiting for them to get paper work ready.

Badlands + BL package, tow package, and co pilot assist+. Finally in my possession after 8 long months. It waited for the recall fix at the dealership for a month. Detailing by the dealership was definitely not sufficient. Still very dirty. Also had a small chip where the hood closes. It was an hour+ from our house so I talked them into an extra $250 for our trade in instead of leaving it for more detailing. Touch up paint for the chip. I also opted for the ceramic coating and interior sealing so when I take it back for that it will get a super thorough detailing. Mine was the first “lot rot” BS they’ve had so I’m hopeful they’ll pay more attention as more come in. Haven’t gotten to drive it much yet but the drive home was nice. I’m a little nervous about the many issues that have been experienced by other people but hoping for the best.

Bummer. The detail guy said that to get the water spots out he would have to "burn through the clear coat".

I take that to mean that the water spots have eaten through the clear coat

The dealer is escalating to Ford to get it fixed.

There were several folks that said sitting in the desert would not hurt it. Maybe not all of them but it sure screwed up the paint on mine.

This after the detail guy did his thing.

Mine was ordered 4/10
Production 6/14
Built 6/15

Tracker still says In Production so I’m assuming it’s still sitting there, even though my dealership says it’s In Transit.

Not sure why I was given an estimated delivery of 12/4 if it hadn’t even shipped yet. That just got pushed back to 1/3/2022.

Mine was part of the fuel line module recall, and as far as I know they haven’t fixed mine yet.

Dealership has been entirely useless with keeping me updated. I think I’m going to back out and get a 4Runner instead.
