Ford Bronco Sport Gas mileage?? 1000016262

My question is about MPG. My wife's 25 Outer Banks is getting bad gas mileage. When I got in it today it said 14.4 mpg. She always drives in normal mode and 85% city......isn't that super low? I took the picture to show since driving it off the lot its average only 18.4 mpg. Opinions? Thanks

When its on the highway....I can rest the mpg and it won't go over 23 mpg.....so 14.4 mpg is normal? I don't think so...should be at least 22 in the city and close to 30 highway.

For an Outer Banks with a 1.5l motor, I’d say that is low. My Badlands with a 2.0l gets normally 22-24 around town and 27-30 on the highway.

I have a 2023 Big Bend with 1.5 L. 90% to 95% of my driving is highway. My average is 31.6 MPG, lowest was 24.8 MPG, highest was 37.6 MPG.

I've got a '21 Outer Banks and I consistently get between 28-32mpg. The only time I go under 28 mpg is in winter.

So yeah, something wrong with your Bronco. How many miles on it?

The issue is the mpg reported by the Bronco in the gauges is not very accurate. You are much better off hand calculating over several tankfuls to get an accurate reading. I use the Fuelly app to monitor both fuel and service inputs to the vehicle.

24 badlands here. Average 22-27.5 depending on mix of city / highway.
Note my town-city mileage doesn't have many traffic lights or stops.
I do drive in eco mode in town.

I agree that the computer mpg is not accurate. In my vehicle it's always off by at least 2 mpg (in my case it reports high). That being said, 18 does seem low. But I would calculate with actual fuel used over a few fillups to confirm before thinking it's a mechanical issue.

We have a 25 Bronco Sport OB with Sasquatch 1.5 and get about 23 city and we live in rolling hilly area and we get about 27 on long highway trips. We only have 3600 miles on it since we bought last June so it is still a baby.

I love these posts.

Very small engine. Decently heavy vehicle. That little engine relies very heavily on the tiny turbo to get it moving.

Turbocharged engines require lots of fuel… also, as stated before, 3200 miles on 232 hours of time probably means a ton of stop and go traffic or just idle time.

My 2.0 averages about 13mpg in the winter because I let it warm up for five minutes before I hop in. Summertime, I average about 21-22… same trips daily. Just no idle time.
