So I just picked up my new 2022 BL today and was looking for the button on mine. Dealer said (and confirmed on ford build website) that it is only available with the Premium Pkg. So $298 vs $2k really isnt that much if you think about it. I would think that a 21 Escape one (like yours) would fit in the 22, correct bjbena ?

Not 100% sure, but pretty certain it would work.

I don't understand. Maybe I'm just too old or too poor, but my garage door opener came with 3 remotes (2x3x1/2 inch), and I use 1 in my BSBL (clipped to visor), 1 clipped to my home office desk, and 1 on outside of garage. I can't imagine spending that much money to replace 1 type for another type. I can buy a lot of good whisky for $300!!!!!

There is a security advantage to a garage remote that only works if the car is unlocked and/or powered by the fob. Also there is a convenience factor with integration.

I also have an outdoor garage remote but it requires a code. I would not have a standard remote accessible outside with no security.

Like I said before, it's not for everyone. Obviously, its not for you. Good.

I got the mirror last year from a FB member who bought it and then balked at installing it - $160 well spent for me.

Now I’m a bit bummed because that could have instead been the Kia mirror and I’d have fixed my second concern - auto-dimming rear view mirror. If anyone has some leads for a non-Homelink auto-dim mirror to install in a BB trim I’m all ears.

Good point...except that in every Ford and Lincoln vehicle I have ever owned, including those that I own now, the garage door opener has always been powered.

Hi @bjbena! Now that it's been a little while, did you ever happen to discover the actual Bronco Sport part number for the Homelink visor? The Escape one is working well, however, we just picked up a Maverick Hybrid too which takes the same exact visors. I would love to swap my Escape visor into the Mav and replace the Bronco Sport one with the actual proper visor that extends further when trying to block the side (the Mav's are short like the Escape, so it's a 1:1 fit). Any ideas?

I can ask my parts guy and see if anything popped up. I’ll bet anything it’s still the exact same part as the Escape.

I looked inside a Heritage Edition that had it, but it extended further like the original BS visor did. I was hoping it was a new part finally :)

Any auto home link will fit the visor. My 2007 Ford F150 drivers side visor did not have a home link. I looked on eBay for a used visor with a home link, and for my color, a used one was in the 30 to 50 dollar range. Found one for a 2005 Toyota for 10 bucks. Bought it.
There was a You tube vid on how to carefully separate the cloth cover of the Ford sun visor. After doing that, you could see the plastic perforation that needed to be cut out to insert the home link device. The only additional part was that I had to run a power and ground lead from the dash up to the sun visor connector for the home link. Run the power lead to a "always hot" battery lead, ground to any screw that holds the sun visor to roof.

Then program it.

Do you have a link to the video? Thanks!

It was awhile back, but I'll go looking for it and post the link here.

UPDATE:

Here is the link to an F-150 forum. While it's an F-150, the steps involved are similar to install a Homelink into a visor that does not have one initially.

https://www.f150forum.com/f118/universal-garage-door-opener-install-into-sun-visor-409210/

You can buy any used visor with a Homelink, remove it, then install into your visor. They are plentiful on eBay for a variety of makes/models, as the Homelink itself was the same, just different visors. Maybe you will get lucky and find a visor for a bronco in your color, ready to go if you do not want to go through the removal/install process. Might be pricey that way though.
