The fluid in the bottom photo looks more like transmission fluid.

This is how the new mechanics are taught, apparently. So here is the Ford fix the leak. Loaded the rtv around the whole timing chain cover. Just think if the gasket is pressing out that much from the outside. It is doing the same from the inside of the timing chain cover.
what do you all think?

#ChinaWallsWith installing intake manifolds on older engines, it was common practice to ditch the front and rear rubber gaskets and use a heavy bead of gasket maker. Once installed and cured, I would remove the squished excess off. Easily done here.
so like instead of replacing the gasket they just loaded it up with a gasket sealer? appears to be sloppySo here is the Ford fix the leak. Loaded the rtv around the whole timing chain cover. makes me want to pull my cover and take a look for leaks now.So water pump went out. Ford is going to replace it but part is on back order.
The pic below. We have wiped the residue multiple times but it keeps coming back. The dealership hasn’t found the cause. Anyone come across this issue?

What did your dealership offer as a solution to that possible potential significant issue?Transmission tech found source of transmission leak. He found that the transmission case was POROUS. For you all who don’t know what that means.
A "porous transmission case" refers to a situation where the metal casing of a transmission has small holes or voids within it, allowing transmission fluid to leak out due to the material not being completely solid, often caused by imperfections in the casting process during manufacturing; this is considered a significant issue as it can lead to fluid loss and potential transmission damage if left unaddressed.
I don’t know if there is a thread for this issue, but if you have the opportunity I would go and check your vehicle.

Thanks for the update. As odd as it sounds, this is a possibility with metal casting, although I would think it should have been caught during quality testing.Transmission tech found source of transmission leak. He found that the transmission case was POROUS.
It might be just one part of the case that's leaking. If that part can be easily replaced it might make sense.Hopefully their techs know what they're doing! I would think it would be more cost effective to swap out an entire transmission vice disassembly and reassembly with a new case. New seals, shaft end play settings, other clearances etc. Cheers!
