Just changed out my cabin air filter for the first time at 33,000 miles. Anyone else have a bunch of fluff on theirs? I never saw something like this with my old car. Could it be pieces of some sort of insulation from when it was first built? Or due to creatures making my car their home?

I’m guessing critters. For whatever reason, critters like to make homes on the vehicle cabin air filters. I had a squirrel condominium complex on my old Escape cabin air filter!

I replaced mine at 33,000 and it was black. I'm not sure why, I haven't driven through any coal mines. After seeing mine, I might be changing it more often.
I always figured cabin air filters were just a scam for the dealerships to screw people. But If you replace it yourself it takes 3 minutes and doesn't cost much.

K&N make a washable cabin filter for $45. I will end up with one before the year is up.
