These are the Bushwacker Fender Flares. I did do some re-gluing of their internal supports to keep them flush to the BS Body. They also use Spring Clips to attach them to the Inside Fender Lip. (wholly inadequate) I lost the left front on the interstate one day. Bushwacker was NOT very responsive, but Ford took care of it. I have now attached ALL of mine with 3/16 Stainless Rivets. All in all, I’m very pleased now.

Hope this helps some.

Well, it’s in process. It’s not a simple mod, steel prices are through the roof and so far the rear setup has been adequate for anything I’ve encountered. It’s not on the fast track, but on the workbench… :)

Did you install this body side molding or did come from the factory?

If you installed it, was it hard to do? Thx!

The door molding is a Ford accessory. I installed them myself. Not a difficult task for the experienced. However, when I laid it out, l discovered that the Badge on the Drivers Door was about 1” lower than the Badge on the Passenger Door. That necessitated removal of Badge and Repositioning.

So, layout, check and double check. :)

Yeah I was looking to do something similar on mine for moving six foot logs around the property.

We went with the Air Design/Ford Fender flares. Easy decision as I didn’t want the chrome rivet look.

I have seen a steel winch bumper for the subaru's. We would have to modify/remove the black bumper cover same as the subies but It should be able to be done if someone could R&D it. Some companies talked about it. HRG toyed with some comments but that was it. If you look at the bumper reinforcement bar it is bolted on both sides by I believe 4 bolts per side. I thought about the hitch receiver idea also. Just not a 12k winch.

I believe the big issue for the BS is in the location of the ECU. Not something I have ever seen done before, but the ECU is in the front of the driver's side wheel well and pretty low in that area. I think that when the bumper is removed (not just the bumper cover) you have to find a new mounting location for the ECU. The one company that I saw do this and then talk about it said that there isn't much/any slack in the wiring to allow for relocation, without extensive work. It seems that it is possible but it has not been deemed a DIY level project. Because of that, it has a very limited market that keeps businesses away from making/marketing a steel bumper for the BS.

Yes I have seen the same info you are referring to. but that is behind that structure. Is due to the fact it will be more exposed to the elements? I wonder if the company that made the headlight harness can do the same for the ecu? I will have to call one of these days and find out. I have starting doing some wheeling around and now my concern is saving my own bacon in a worse case scenario.

I would not attach anything to the bumper bar. That component is meant to absorb impact force in the event of a collision, so I would question its ability to take the strain of a winch pulling on it without deformation.

The only place I would consider attaching a winch is to the recovery hook mounts. On the Badlands these are welded directly to the unibody in a place that's meant to take a pulling load.

Welded not bolted in place? I need to crawl under there and see. Now you have me wondering.

Thats a lot of winch for the vehicle. I figured a 9k with synthetic rope. How has the rear mounted winch been working for you?

Here’s a pic after the OEM bushwackers added. I added 1.25” spacers on the wheels so it lined up better.
