I think it is funny that some people think you should not tow anything with a BS. I have not tow anything with my new BS yet, but will in a few weeks.

I had been towing my Polaris Sportsman 850 with my old 2020 Ford Escape for 3 years. I traded the Escape in for the Bronco Sport because I like the BS better, but it is almost the same vehicle. Plus they gave me a great deal for the Escape.

I don't have a pic of that other than this.

And you can't see what is towing this. It was this 2020 Escape.

I towed my ATV to ride trails around here. From 10 miles up to 40 miles from me. Up and down hill in the Appalachian mountains. Never had any problems. No problems with pulling or stopping. The only thing I was going to do was put new break shoes on(the shoes were still good, just lower than I like). But a Ford dealer called me, asked if I would like to trade in for something new, and here I am with a new BS.

I will get a few pics when I do tow it 24 mile from here on May 18th.

Depending on which trim Escape you traded, the tow rating can be quite different. For example, my Badlands is rated at the max tow capacity for the Bronco Sport line (2200 lbs) and the wife's 2020 Escape Titanium is rated at the max tow capacity for the Escape line (3500 lbs).

I think it was a 1.5 liter Ecoboost 3 cylinder. But I was only towing 2000 lbs. It is just, some people don't think you should tow anything because it is not body on frame, it has a small engine and the vehicle is not a bigger F150. But if you know what you are doing you can tow safely, even if you are towing with a motorcycle (and they do).

Plus I only go up to 40 miles from me and there are no highways around here (just 2 lane roads).

You should be fine with 2000 lbs, assuming your Bronco Sport has the towing package.

This is my tow I do on weekends during the summer riding season. Most of the time it is a 10 mile pull from here. Twice a year it is 24 miles and I have a few rides in other places.

Just got done pulling a 5x9 Uhaul Motorcycle trailer loaded with a 400lb Honda Helix from Charlotte back home (450 miles). I estimate it was 1300 lbs total. My 22 OBX with the 1.5 performed flawlessly. A little sway here and there from the wind plus no way to put the Helix in Backwards. The engine is over the rear wheel so the normal rule of putting most of the weight in front of the trailer axle was impossible. If I would have loaded the bike backwards it would have ripped the windshield off.

I can see it towing 1500 lbs easy. If I was doing hard grades like mountains, (think Black Mountain just east of Asheville, or Afton just east of Waynesboro), then I would only be comfortable with 1,000 or so. Just enough for a nice Teardrop I would think.
I’m about to tow a 5x9 U-Haul trailer as well to transport my Honda rebel 500, what size of chain links did you end up using?

Not sure I understand chain links. If you are talking the safety chains, whatever was on the trailer.

I have an update'.

I rented another 5*9 Uhaul trailer and towed a Honda Elite 250 from eastern NC to Cheyenne WY (1800 miles). Not sure I'll do that again in the BS with the 1.5. it spent way too much at 3,000 RPM and then when going up mountains at 5k rpm. If you keep your speed at around 65 you are ok. But hard to do in MO and NE and WY where speed limit is 75. I only averaged 14 mpg. It did it, but I was sure glad to deliver the Honda to my son and drop off the trailer.

I think the Uhaul 5*9 is close to 1300 lbs empty. It is unnecessarily heavy for my application. I say this because on the website you put in you towing capacity and the website says you can load about 700 lbs in the trailer I image I was carrying about 1700 lbs all the way to WY.

A thousand lb teardrop should be ok. But that trip I wished I had the 2.0 liter.

Shame the gas mileage was only 14. I’m hauling the motor about 40 miles so it won’t affect me as much but I ended up reserving uhauls motorcycle trailer and they mentioned the trailer comes with the safety breakaway chains. Did you use the trailer brakes? The factory plug is 4 way and I believe the trailer is as well. This is going to be my first time towing with the bronco sport.

It does have the safety chains but no brakes. It only had the 4 way plug. So no electric brake capability but that's not needed for under 2000 lb trailers anyways.

Some Uhaul trailers include a built in hydraulic breaking system but I have only seen that on bigger trailers like car haulers and car dollies.
