I forgot to add I had my EFB battery replaced via the recall under mobile service from dealer. The old was functioning perfect but my BS had over 90k miles. The existing battery was likely at its end of life anyways so getting a new battery for free was the bees knees.

I know about removing the battery as I had to take mine out when I ran a power cable through a grommet on the firewall for my subwoofer amp.

It truly is so very easy that for me at least, paying someone to change the battery would be criminal. Not knocking others experiences or skill set.

I had my original EFB battery die suddenly in a Target parking lot. If you have not done this recall do it ASAP! When they die they, they die without any warning and you be dead in the water. Luckily I have roadside assistance so I did not pay for tow. But it was a huge inconvenience.

Well called dealership about reimbursement. Told I Have to go in person to speak directly with advisor.
little annoyed that I’ll be speaking with the same advisor that let me swipe my card on something that should have been covered? I’ll make it there this weekend and let yall know

That may be to your advantage. Emphasize that HE should have known about the recall and HE should not have let you pay for the battery.

The service advisor/writer at my local dealer told me I had to call Ford. Ford told me the best way to get reimbursed was through the dealer. On my second visit I went straight to the Service Manager. He processed the reimbursement request on the spot and I had a check in 1-2 weeks . . . no problems.

Your BS should have come with a AGM from the factory because of the start/stop feature

There were supply chain issues which forced Ford into supplying EFB batteries instead of AGM which is one of the reasons for the recall. The tech that came out to replace mine said no testing was required. If it was an EFB, automatically replace it with an AGM version.

This is what’s confusing me, is I didn’t really even know this recall existed. It never showed up on my vin search for recall info or my app. And the service advisor didn’t say anything. So without this forum (assuming they do reimburse me when I stop in this weekend) I would be out $300 completely unaware that I got got lol

That seems odd. Once the repair became available, they Ford and several dealers were constantly bugging me via email and telephone to get the battery replaced. I finally caved in and did it. It was painless but I always worry when somebody else has their head under my hood!

Just left dealership. As all recalls are, it’s vin specific and my vehicle did not qualify. 🤷🏻‍♂️ kind of what I expected but it was worth a shot. I drive a 2022 so I thought my chances were pretty high that it would lol

Well you already have an AGM Battery right?

Because other owners with the non chinese EFB got the new AGM Battery per how the recall was stated
