Cost for battery upgrade to AGM

For anyone that’s still running the regular lead acid battery and curious how much for dealer to install agm here ya go.
Washington state. Idk how across the board labor prices are.

The local dealer replaced my 4 yr old bat under the recall. No charge. The only problem they didn't latch hood properly and did not tighten positive bat terminal.

Well that’s annoying haha. I am the original owner and when I asked about the upgrade to Agm they said it wasn’t covered so I just took the hit

If it was a recall it applies to any owner. Recalls are only for safety related items. Was the battery replacement a safety issue?

Is was consider a safety issue. My original EFB was replaced no charge with a new Motorcraft AGM. The BS was over 4 years old at the time.

Assuming you got paperwork, I’d contact Ford directly regarding reimbursement. Dealer replaced mine for @ $300, which I paid. I requested reimbursement and they sent me to Ford who said I could/should be reimbursed by dealer and if not I could submit directly to Ford. The dealer did reimburse me under the terms of the recall. Good luck!

If you qualify you can have the battery replaced for free if your Sport doesn't already have a AGM battery installed.

I think it's worth $40 bucks to have Ford do the R&R, you don't have to get your tools out, get your hands dirty or deal with the old battery.

I just had mine replaced last week. If it is an EFB, they don’t do anything but replace it and then do the BCM reset. All done in my driveway in about 20 minutes. The dealer gets extra money from Ford if they use the mobile service.

Took mine into scheduled service today At 8am.
Oil, tire rotation, alignment, addressed recall battery inspection. Service writer asked if it was pulling. I said no. But the front tires are wearing quick. Said they’d have it all day

result:
alignment done and was way out on all 4
battery failed inspection and Ford replaced AGM battery per recall
done by noon

I‘ve had no trouble with this vehicle.

I‘ve had no trouble with this vehicle.

I suppose I should mention, my EFB battery worked fine for 3.5 years but I do use a tender when it sits for a long time. Which is often during the summer.

Wal-Mart has a high quality AGM battery with a 4 year warranty for only 179.00. All this talk about paying someone to change it is foreign to me. It is truly very easy and only have to disconnect/move a few things with simple tools.

I've had good experiences with these Wal-Mart EverStart batteries. I vouch for them and use the marine versions in my boat.

I've also had good luck with Walmart Ever Start batteries in My 89 Mustang with 466 BBF Engine.

My Last Battery was an Auto Zone Dura Last but i went back with the Wal-Mart Ever Start at the beginning of this Year.

I keep forgetting that the ‘25’s are insanely simple to replace. That, and they came with AGM from the get-go.

I was shocked when I saw under the 2025 hood. My wife's old Escape was hell to deal with when the battery needed to come out.
