The water pump issue could affect ‘21-‘24 1.5L models as there are owners across all 4 model years which reported water pump failures (the rate of failure remains unknown).. whether this is due to engine casting sand, incomplete flushing of the cooling system to remove sand or to multiple bad water pump designs remains unknown. Good news is not all 1.5L vehicles have this issue.

Similar for the drain tube and PCM Programming to handle a potential fuel injector leak. Several fixes have been issued by Ford.

And the BCM/PCM Programming related to the charging system affects ‘21-‘24 model years for both 1.5L and 2L. What is interesting is that even some owners of the 2025 model year posted their vehicle was built at the factory with the EFB (not the AGM Battery).
Mine 2025 Badlands came with an AGM battery. Did anyone with a 2025 not come with an AGM battery?

I’ve seen at least two 2025 owners post they were disappointed to see the EFB was installed

most owners aren’t going to look at the battery until it fails and even then probably won’t know the type

Why EFB is disappointing? Legit question...

EFBs aren’t recommended for vehicles with Auto Stop Start (AGM Batteries are recommended)

one of the OE batteries (EFB) is part of Recall 25S02 but really doubt that battery (chinese) would be in any 2025

Here is more info on the EFB issues but again really doubt the chinese made battery (Recall 25S02) would be in any 2025

Seems unlikely you have the EFB .. only saw a couple 2025 owners claim theirs did not come the AGM Battery
Who knows

where are you getting that from, here is the definition of a EFB battery.

"EFB stands for "Enhanced Flooded Battery," a type of lead-acid battery designed for vehicles with start-stop systems, offering improved charge acceptance and cyclic durability compared to traditional flooded batteries. "

the issue with ford is they had some EFB batteries that were not manufactured correctly, not because they were EFB. now up here the issue is you are only saving 40 bucks going with a efb, over a agm, but they have the same 5 year warranty and are designed for start stop.

As I posted before, the 2025 MY Bronco Sports have the MPC Engine, perhaps with a new charging system design - still waiting to see more info on that but I am hoping Ford solved all the issues and similar problems will not reoccur

I hope too ... I find that ridiculous that Ford failed at the charging system its something that existed for years and is well understood... unless it was the cheap battery the issue.

I don’t think it is only the battery on the ‘21-‘24 but I agree with you it is ridiculous

After reading all the posts about EFB vs AGM batteries in this forum, checking the battery installed in my 2025 Badlands was one of the first things I did. With my previous cars I NEVER cared about what kind of battery the vehicle had. This site has a wealth of information that can lead to bouts of paranoia.

I take the comments with a grain of salt

most of the issues “likely” are low rates of failure including the ‘21-‘24 1.5L water pump

and the ‘21-‘24 1.5L Fuel drain tube and it’s PCM Programming (meaning the 1.5L cracked and leaking fuel injectors)

.. except for recall 24s24 and 25s02 which did impact many sports and mavericks

and the 2025 should have none of those issues being it’s the MPC Engine

I am used to the old 2.0 Ecoboost (Focus ST), now the new MPC 2.0L is different!

Not sure if the old 2.0L had the same transmission configuration but there is more space there to service the 8F35. The Escape has the battery over the transmission.

AGM Battery is what I have as well. With all the trouble some ‘21-‘24 owners have had with EFB (battery) I was just surprised to see a couple of 2025 owners post their 2025 came with the EFB.

Since you mentioned the 8F35 Transmission on the 2025s, if the battery is dead and without having to jump the vehicle - to get a 2025 into Neutral (in an emergency when the battery is dead) - is that pretty easy for the 2025s? Or have you not looked into that yet?

I can look it up in the 2025 owners manual if you don’t know.

(For reference, here is how it could be done for 2023 and some other model years:
