I used a touchless for a couple of years and what I learned was that it just didn't clean all that well. At some point you need mechanical action.

So every so often I'd if have to hand wash, clay and take the polisher to the car.

When the local wash place opened up and had all you could wash for $15 a month I went that route figuring I'd still be doing the hand wash, clay and polisher every so often.

For hand washing I use an electric pressure washer, foam gun, double bucket with grit guards method.

I'm getting old and hand washing isn't getting easier for me.

Yes, they are safe in terms of scratching. The thing you have to be aware of is that the detergents are very strong and will strip most paint protection off during the wash. So if you have "waxed" it, that "wax" will be gone. The swirls come from abrasive wear but since nothing other than liquids are touching the vehicle there should not be any swirls.
Do they have any impact on a ceramic coating?

Even the touchless washes have their issues. They recycle the water, at some point even with filtering, the water will have some particles in it if you are concerned. Me, rust will eat my car long before I’ll ever wear through the paint by washing it.

Some ceramic coatings are more chemical resistant than others. So your results may vary.

They are very easy to scratch. Mine were micro scratched when I picked mine up from the dealer.
I go through a regular car wash, not touchless and it hasn't affected the panels.

I've never felt touchless carwashes cleaned very well, haven't had any issues with the standard car wash I use but I do take the antenna off before going through, no roof basket though. I don't think the height would be an issue but it wouldn't clean the roof too well and I'd worry about the twirly bits getting stuck in it.

Sidebar but what basket is that you have? Is it straight onto the rails with no crossbars? I hate the way the baskets sit so high with roofbars fitted
