Sounds pretty normal. If anything you might have a loose bolt in the exhaust manifold.I had a flat today and after I put the spare on I am hearing this when the car is idling. Any ideas?

Check the grommets under air cleaner box, there are 3 of them, b if one is removed you develop a rattle like that, just had mine fixed after an oil change which accidentally dropped one off when changing the filter.I had a flat today and after I put the spare on I am hearing this when the car is idling. I think the audio sample was taken at the rear of the vehicle. If it was taken under the hood you'd hear belt, bearing and injector noise instead of that wonderful exhaust note. Also, I believe there isn't really an "exhaust manifold" on these engines; the turbocharger assembly bolt rights on the head.Check the grommets under air cleaner box, there are 3 of them, b if one is removed you develop a rattle like that, just had mine fixed after an oil change which accidentally dropped one off when changing the filter.
Yes sorry it's the rear right tireI think the audio sample was taken at the rear of the vehicle. The metal on metal sound is your exhaust right up against the heat shield, when it cool off, get underneath and push the heat shield back up! My escape did that for so long until I figured it out one day I put a record underneath while I drove! Played it back and that what it is!! Ford is known for pushing the exhaust so close to itI had a flat today and after I put the spare on I am hearing this when the car is idling. Any ideas?

yup, it’s either a cracked flex plate or your starter gear is hanging up. Hopefully it’s just a starter. I checked that first. We just had one in the shop last week for that same noise and it turned out It was a starter. make sure the teeth on the flex plate are OK
