I can only agree with this sentence: "There is no As-Built value you can change to make this work."

Is ChatGPT correct?
I am trying to solve the folding mirror issue on my Latin American spec 2022 BS Wildtrak originally bound for Colombia. I'm using Forscan but I'm a beginner. I did manage to enable the Oil Life option on the Settings menu, however (small victories).
So I've been using Chat GPT to help on the folding mirror issue. My mirrors fold when button is pressed, and they auto-fold in the wrong direction when opening and locking when the option is toggled on the Sync menu after enabling with Forscan.
Chat GPT gives me this explanation. Is it correct?
Why the mirrors unfold when you lock (final, correct explanation)
This behaviour is intentional in this firmware:
  • Manual mirror fold = temporary override
  • Lock event = return vehicle to baseline configuration
  • Baseline for this market = mirrors open
So when you:
  1. Fold mirrors manually
  2. Press lock
The BCM does exactly what it’s programmed to do:

That’s why it feels inverted. It’s not a bug — it’s a design choice for this market.

Why SYNC lets you enable the option (and why that’s misleading)
SYNC (APIM):

  • Only controls menus and user preferences
  • Has no awareness of what the BCM can actually act on
Ford reused SYNC software globally, but:

  • LATAM BCM firmware omits comfort-lock mirror logic
  • SYNC still exposes the menu
This creates the illusion of a missing setting — but it’s not missing, it’s never compiled in.

Why this cannot be fixed with FORScan (important)
FORScan can:

  • Toggle existing logic
  • Enable dormant features
FORScan cannot:

  • Add missing BCM functions
  • Inject NA/EU comfort logic into a LATAM BCM
  • Change the lock-event behaviour without reflashing firmware
There is no As-Built value you can change to make this work.
Looks like ChatGPT is getting better. It used to spew out a bunch of nonsense when people would ask it about this sort of thing, but based on my knowledge of how these things work, it would explain why this has been so difficult to get to work.

If you drive a vehicle that has the mirror motors, but you cannot get the desired effect, then the only thing you could do is flash the BCM firmware from another vehicle in a market where those events do exist in the software.

However, this is going really deep into FAFO territory. The only way to do this would be to side-load the BCM software from another vehicle (assuming you are able to obtain the files and the bootloader), write your VIN to the BCM after the flash, and then you may have the ability to make FORScan changes that will make this actually work.

This requires advanced knowledge of module programming, and I would not recommend anyone try this without having FDRS access to recover the BCM should something go wrong. A bricked BCM will turn your BS into a 4,000lbs paperweight.

Edit: The correct procedure would be to back up the ab data of your BCM first, then flash the firmware, and then flash the ab data onto the new firmware. This would also write your VIN to the BCM at the same time.

Ok… so without scrolling through 26 pages…

Is there anywhere that shows what can be modified on a 2025? I just bought the obdlink cable and a cheap laptop… I want to know what I can do. 🤣

Ya everything I’m seeing is relating to the pre-2025.

So, again… anything that shows verified moddable options for a 2025.
The module architecture on the 2025+ BS is very similar to every other Sync 4 vehicle out there. For sure you want to avoid the known mods for the 21-24 model years. Try something simple like disabling the honk when you leave the vehicle running and exit with the keys or bambi mode.

2025 will be almost the same. just plug in forscan and see what options it gives you, as more stuff is found more will be added if they are popular changes. but bambi mode and stuff like that will all be the same.

Ok, I’ve only messed with FORScan once, and that was in 2016… and I borrowed a friends laptop and connector… and I only added two things, but had a detailed listing of everything that could be adjusted and what values did what.

I actually had to buy myself a cheap laptop yesterday to run it, as I’ve been a Mac user since the early 2000s… 🤣

So, only the data that is modifiable will show up?
