Looks like ChatGPT is getting better. It used to spew out a bunch of nonsense when people would ask it about this sort of thing, but based on my knowledge of how these things work, it would explain why this has been so difficult to get to work.Is ChatGPT correct?
I am trying to solve the folding mirror issue on my Latin American spec 2022 BS Wildtrak originally bound for Colombia. I'm using Forscan but I'm a beginner. I did manage to enable the Oil Life option on the Settings menu, however (small victories).
So I've been using Chat GPT to help on the folding mirror issue. My mirrors fold when button is pressed, and they auto-fold in the wrong direction when opening and locking when the option is toggled on the Sync menu after enabling with Forscan.
Chat GPT gives me this explanation. Is it correct?
Why the mirrors unfold when you lock (final, correct explanation)
This behaviour is intentional in this firmware:
So when you:
- Manual mirror fold = temporary override
- Lock event = return vehicle to baseline configuration
- Baseline for this market = mirrors open
The BCM does exactly what itās programmed to do:
- Fold mirrors manually
- Press lock
Thatās why it feels inverted. Itās not a bug ā itās a design choice for this market.
Why SYNC lets you enable the option (and why thatās misleading)
SYNC (APIM):
Ford reused SYNC software globally, but:
- Only controls menus and user preferences
- Has no awareness of what the BCM can actually act on
This creates the illusion of a missing setting ā but itās not missing, itās never compiled in.
- LATAM BCM firmware omits comfort-lock mirror logic
- SYNC still exposes the menu
Why this cannot be fixed with FORScan (important)
FORScan can:
FORScan cannot:
- Toggle existing logic
- Enable dormant features
There is no As-Built value you can change to make this work.
- Add missing BCM functions
- Inject NA/EU comfort logic into a LATAM BCM
- Change the lock-event behaviour without reflashing firmware

Is there anywhere that shows what can be modified on a 2025? I just bought the obdlink cable and a cheap laptop⦠I want to know what I can do.![]()
Ya everything Iām seeing is relating to the pre-2025.
The module architecture on the 2025+ BS is very similar to every other Sync 4 vehicle out there. For sure you want to avoid the known mods for the 21-24 model years. Try something simple like disabling the honk when you leave the vehicle running and exit with the keys or bambi mode.Ya everything Iām seeing is relating to the pre-2025.
So, again⦠anything that shows verified moddable options for a 2025.
2025 will be almost the same. just plug in forscan and see what options it gives you, as more stuff is found more will be added if they are popular changes. but bambi mode and stuff like that will all be the same.Ya everything Iām seeing is relating to the pre-2025.

Ok, Iāve only messed with FORScan once, and that was in 2016⦠and I borrowed a friends laptop and connector⦠and I only added two things, but had a detailed listing of everything that could be adjusted and what values did what.2025 will be almost the same. just plug in forscan and see what options it gives you, as more stuff is found more will be added if they are popular changes. but bambi mode and stuff like that will all be the same.
there are two ways to use it, the one is thepopular things are incorperated into it and when you click on a section it will give you options and a enable/disablebuttons or somthing like that. thoes are the easy one. the other way to do it is to modify the coding, which I do not recomend for most people, and if they do go that way I sugesting only changing one thing at a time so if it does mess somthing up you can know what you did and reverse it easy.Ok, Iāve only messed with FORScan once, and that was in 2016⦠and I borrowed a friends laptop and connector⦠and I only added two things, but had a detailed listing of everything that could be adjusted and what values did what.
I actually had to buy myself a cheap laptop yesterday to run it, as Iāve been a Mac user since the early 2000sā¦
So, only the data that is modifiable will show up?
I was able to fumble my way through a tire circumference change with a lot of headaches today, but it was not like any of the guides I found on here. I'm being very cautious moving forward. There were extra steps I had to take, and even the functional circumference was stock 2202 and I think my upgrade for 235s were at 2215 once I GPS calibrated so I'm not too confident a lot of the older posts are holding water with the 25 BS BL.Ya everything Iām seeing is relating to the pre-2025.

@Frenchy906 and I were trying to figure out how to get his new tire size calibrated, but nothing we did would clear the code. I'm sure I speak for both of us when we say please share what you did. I plan on putting bigger tires on ours when it's time to replace them.I was able to fumble my way through a tire circumference change with a lot of headaches today, but it was not like any of the guides I found on here. After the reset, the key that I spent 3 hours trying to find is that you now need to re-initialize AWD in the configuration module.
