Hello, I purchased my 2023 Bronco Sport Badlands 21 days ago it has now been in the repair shop for 2 days and the dealership has not even said what they think is wrong with it. When I was driving out of town three times the engine accelerated but did engage the transmission while driving each time an error message was displayed on the screen to have the car serviced immediately and the orange wrench. You had to take your foot off the gas and slowing accelerate to get the car to engage the transmission. Just like the other person on the forum said “almost like driving a manual with a totally cooked clutch... You give it gas and it just revs and the car doesn't move”. Then one time at the gas pump, I started the car put it into drive and all that happened is the engine revved, turned it off opened the door closed the door started the car put it in drive and no luck (tried that twice). Tried the same idea in manual mode with no luck. Then I tired the same pattern but put it into reverse and the car move backwards, put it into drive and drove away from the gas pump. All this with under 1,000 miles on it. I have a 2004 Mazda that has never been in the Mazda dealership for any major repairs and runs great. I have been asking myself why did I buy a Ford?

Could you please send over a message with your VIN and the name/location of the Ford dealer you are working with? I would like to take a closer look at your transmission concerns.

I will let you know when I hear back from the dealership. I am aware that Ford used to own 50% of Mazda. This was not meant to be a whiney post. I have only stated the facts regarding a car that is not even a month old.

To the OP, Ford will fix this. I know its a bummer right at the beginning of ownership.

On a Mazda side note. My wife had a 93 Escort GT, which was really a Mazda Protege, that car had 286K miles and the engine didn't burn a drop of oil. Yes I had just gone through my 3rd transmission on the car, but the car was amazing. I begged her to get the manual, but she wanted the auto.

Ours is doing same thing, plus it can be in reverse but it’s actually in drive, put it in park and it goes in reverse or drive. Got video it gets worse as it gets warmer, we have a piece of lawn art at this point. Been in shop 6 times for axle grinding now catalytic converter flex pipe is cracked and Saturday transmission has gone crazy. life threatening to say the least.

The round shifter could be part of the problem. I'm not a fan of it. Nor do I like the push buttons trans.

Ford said they couldn’t see a problem with axle, gave them this video I took before it went to shop. Guess Ford mechanics aren’t ? I was told don’t come back till it breaks.

To original poster, check lemon laws in your state know your rights. If Ford can't get it fixed within time frame of law make Ford buy it back. Use it as leverage to get them to get it fixed.

Did dealer give you a loaner car for free?

In Michigan it is 30 days in the repair shop in the first year, I am at day 4. Ford Coporate is deciding on a complete transmission or parts. Also Michigan lemon law does not count the days during a strike period. Hopefully they will not go on strike. I have a loaner car because I purchased the extended warranty that provides a loaner car for any service. So I guess the answer is yes , but

Hopefully you kept records and invoices for service work requested and performed. If you have evidence that you took the car in for repair under warranty and the repair wasn't properly completed then you have a good case for a warranty dispute.

I took it to Bob utter ford in Sherman Texas at least five-seven times just for axle, honestly don’t remember How many. Even had a lady contact me on this forum that was a ford representative who had engineer look at it. My service rep said they were tired of me bringing it in because they were wasting their mechanics time. Her words not mine were drive it till it breaks then call them back. Wtf. At this point they replaced water pump been because it kept loosing water but none on pavement or leaking out. I figure burning it somehow, axle is still growling, catalytic converter flex pipe is cracked, and now transmission shifts Into reverse or drive while in park or while in drive might shift into reverse. It’s sporadic, i have given up. I have a pretty piece of lawn art. My daughter has only driven it on roads no off road use at all. We are hoping her free legal at work will get some resolution. She already has bought another car. Bronco sport is a great looking car but is a piece of.
