Ford cut many corners on my BS. My back up warning beep turns itself off about once a week, the warning for a vehicle next to you should have a warning beep. I ordered my 2021 BS Outer Banks fully equipped and I received it with no navigation. The wireless charger won't keep up sometimes if I have an app playing, I could go on. I was thinking of getting a big bronco, now seriously thinking of a competitor.
Oh, I just tried to get a warning beep by turning my signal on while there was a car next to me, NO beep.

Doesn't matter if you howl at the moon at midnight, or turn into a pumpkin, or look first in the mirror then signal or whatever.

Include it and give you the option to turn it on or off.

I get what you're saying about this. For poor drivers, this might help them avoid the many accidents they're bound to have.

For alert drivers, I think these systems help to avoid accidents that OTHERS might cause.

I think one time my mom's Honda saved me was when I was changing lanes and about half way through someone else sped up and wanted to get into the same spot. I saw them coming and reacted but that beep went off and let me know. The lane was clear and most probably wouldn't have been watching. Another time was when someone changed lanes in front of me and slowed down. If I had blinked at the wrong time I might have missed them but her CR-V alerted me.

I don't think it was a financial decision to not include an actual beep. Maybe it's the type of monitoring system. I do wish there was a beep when someone gets in your lane and activates the ACC slow down. I have mine set to furthest away (not much traffic in my part of Texas) and it'll slow me down 1-2 mph if someone gets in my way. Not much for me to quickly notice so I can change lanes or make a decision. But it can slow me down just a bit. A beep will let me know I need to get around that car.
I don't like the idea that I have to pay for extra features because of poor drivers.

We have it in a few of our vehicles, it only goes off when your signal is on and a vehicle is detected
I have one...its called a horn. When someone comes into my lane without looking, they hear it.

While only slightly related to this post, my pet peeve is not having turn signal indicators on the side mirrors. My 2015 Escape has them as does South America spec Bronco Sports.

I just wanted to send a thank you to the OP @Webini for making me aware there is no sound.

My previous Ford trucks with this feature all made a sound. I’m a safe driver that has not even had a fender bender in 40 years and anal about blinkers due to riding motorcycles, but yes, I thought it’d beep at me like all of my other cars and trucks have done. And I agree it should.

Unfortunately, you are already too far down that road:
  • Seat Belts
  • Air Bags
  • ABS
  • Traction Control
  • Lane Keeping
  • Pedestrian Collision Avoidance
  • .........

Exactly my point. We have too much already. Don't need anymore.

My dad always told us that there are lazy people in this world that expect others to take care of them. We spend too much time and money helping these lazy people. lazy people should not be allowed to have children, as these children only become more lazy people.

Yes, there are stupid and bad drivers. However, safety features can save their lives and
others. Even the best drivers occasionally can make a mistake.

I changed from stupid to lazy, as to not offend anyone. You got me before that change.

I still feel the same way though. I should not have to pay for a feature that's not needed if lazy folks pay attention to their own driving, and not expect others to watch over them.

In all your years of driving have you ever made a mistake? Cut someone off, almost hit a vehicle in front of you, almost hit a pedestrian etc. Schit happens. Most mistakes can be saved by alerts. There is no disputing that. People didn't wear seatbelts in the past too or have airbags surrounding them..

I've said for a long time if you really want roads full of ultra-safe drivers, instead of all the safety devices meant to save your @$$ if you wreck they should mandate a sharp spike about a foot long, mounted right in the center of the steering wheel, pointing right at the driver's heart.

In the auto industry we now have lane detection, adaptive cruise, front & rear parking sensors, pedestrian detection, speed sign recognition, bicycle detection, cross traffic alert, rear traffic detection, etc.

Are they
absolutely needed, no. But they do make driving safer and hopefully keeping insurance claims down including premiums.

Reverse cameras are now mandatory and beneficial for almost everyone.

Hyundai & Kia have a feature that shows a live feed from your right or left mirror camera on the drivers dash display when either turn signal is activated. Pretty nice feature.

What's next, who knows, armadillo detection, probably not a bad idea in Texas.

If all these features make driving safer and more comfortable, I'm for it. JMO

Don't think the feds will go for that.
