This feature has been out on most every automaker for about 15 years. It is as annoying as autostop if not more. In most cases you have dealer enter into computer to deactivate or you have procedure owner can do with a combination of button presses and turning vehicle on and off. Ford has published a video in which you turn vehicle on hit the unlock button three times, turn vehicle off hit the unlock button three more times, turn vehicle on again hear a chirp hit unlock once, hit lock once and then another chirp and you should be set. Now this does not work on 2024 Bronco Sport models. I took vehicle to dealer who acknowledged it should be deactivated...they had no luck. They contacted Ford Technical Support and discovered nothing can be done from a "field engineer" whose name I have as I have a copy of the reply. This is totally not a safety issue and in fact is a safety hazard when you pick someone up and vehicle is in drive and they attempt to be let into the vehicle and you forgot to press unlock in a busy/congested area....putting in park delays the process as well...not to mention the rear doors or hatch access being stopped as well. Anyone with a solution please advise....I have had and do have late model Nissans and Infiniti's and the dealer has easily been able to deactivate this crap.

On my ā€˜22 under Settings I can disable that auto lock … do you not have that on your ā€˜24 under settings?

Negative....on several other Ford forums it appears Ford has killed the ability to deactivate in 2023 and Ford technical support sent an internal email to dealer's technician that he could not find a current procedure. Hoping that a Ford tech or Ford representative reads this and comes up with a solution...the history on this dates back to feedback from parents fearful kids will open doors when vehicle is moving, but the opposite side of that story is the passenger in an accident or attacked in an urban traffic situation can't easily exit....just another dumb "safety feature" that is a knee jerk solution.....car builders don't get the fact that this should be a turn off/turn on decision by the owner of the vehicle....we pay good money for these vehicles and we don't need a big brother telling us what to do!

Imagine you are offroading say on a moderate or above trail like Bulldog Canyon area in Tonto National Forest and vehicle slides into a precarious position and you suddenly realize you gotta get out quick and you failed to hit the unlock button when you exceeded 11 mph....you have a "safety feature" that may have just got you killed!

You are correct about Bulldog Canyon (and other places). I prefer the auto lock for other safety reasons - in areas where someone tries to get into the vehicle the auto lock means I don’t have to think if the doors are locked and when young kids in the vehicle that don’t realize they should not open the door when at speed.

but when I’m in an area where I need to pick up someone or when I need everyone in the vehicle to exit quickly I have to manually unlock all doors as I come to a stop. I could have just disabled the auto lock feature since I have a ā€˜22 but because in my case 95% of the time I prefer auto lock, i hit unlock all doors when in areas I want the doors unlocked.

Would be nice if Sync voice activated commands have a voice command to lock and unlock all doors. I’ll have to check if that is a feature.

Hi there! Would you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location? I’d like to look into this concern on my end.

Just FYI, you don't need to hit unlock on the door to unlock the door. Pulling the interior handle unlocks it such that a double pull then opens a door. Hope you get the feature sorted.

Thanks, but the issue is as an example, when you pick someone up and the car is in drive unless you remembered to manually unlock the autolock they can't open the door....there are hundreds of threads on this for many years and it is typically turned off by drilling down in the computer attached by a dealer tech to turn it off or by a procedure as Ford did a video for the consumer.

Any resolution for this ever come to light? Bought a used '22 Big Bend and absolutely F'n hate auto lock. The press lock three times start press lock three times turn it off thing didn't work. Stupid feature.

At least Ford has always got it right with the exit handle always letting you out if the door is locked.

Owners Manual has this to say:

Enabling or Disabling Autounlock
To enable or disable autounlock, see an authorized dealer.

Autolock (If Equipped)
Autolock locks all the doors when:
All doors are closed.
The ignition is on.
You shift into any gear putting your vehicle in motion.
Your vehicle reaches a speed greater than 4 mph (7 km/h).

Autolock repeats when:
You open, then close any door while the ignition is on and your vehicle speed is 4 mph (7 km/h) or lower.
Your vehicle reaches a speed greater than 4 mph (7 km/h).

Perhaps your dealership will use FORScan to change to the behavior you want although there might be a charge for that.
