The total gross weight dry of one of those is 1946 pounds or 2006 with just the battery and propane tank without a single other thing in them, such as water or cargo. That leaves you only 194 pounds for all your cargo and water. Water alone is 91 pounds, leaving you 103 pounds for ALL your trailer cargo to avoid exceeding the BS limits.Has everything. AC, furnace, kitchen-sink-stove-fridge, bathroom, TV, stereo, solar. It's our hard shell tent with all the comforts of home. T@B 320S
I think you may have a few numbers mixed up. The maximum GCWR (gross combined weight rating) for the Badlands is 6,260 lbs; all other trims (with the 1.5L engine) are 5,860 lbs. The GCWR is the weight of the vehicle, the trailer, and everything loaded in both. With your family, watercraft, cargo etc what is the combined gross weight you are running? The tab allows 2900 for its GVWR (which you cannot do with the BS since it has to stay under 2200) and the BS is 4630 which means if you pull that fully loaded BS and trailer onto a scale it cannot exceed 7530 pounds without being over the legal limit. Or your vehicle spec limit combined would be 6830 combined.
The Europeans/Canadians can make some nice lightweight campers. I haven't been able to find anyone that sells any of them in the US.Tabs are nice and well-built. Top of the line for teardrops, but, close to our towing limit.
The Tab 400 is a better size but too heavy for the BS to pull.
Check out these other trailers as well that have all the same features (including wet baths) at a lower price point (except for the Safari Condo):
ProLite PlusS (1390 lbs) Sleeps 2
ProLite Lounge (1485 lbs) Sleeps 3
ProLite PLUS (1590 lbs) Sleeps 2
ProLite Profil (1685 lbs) Sleeps 4
Then, there's the Rove Lite (1707-1850 lbs depending on layout) Sleeps 2-4
And, Alto Safari Condo F1743 (1765lbs) Sleeps 3-4
Prolites can be found here in the US.The Europeans/Canadians can make some nice lightweight campers. I haven't been able to find anyone that sells any of them in the US.
You are correct that the GCWR is the total capacity for everything….trailer, tow vehicles, cargo, etc. GCWR does not apply to the Badlands (as you posted) as an individual vehicle. that is called the GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating).I think you may have a few numbers mixed up. The maximum GCWR (gross combined weight rating) for the Badlands is 6,260 lbs; all other trims (with the 1.5L engine) are 5,860 lbs. The GCWR is the weight of the vehicle, the trailer, and everything loaded in both.
If you are towing a 2200 lb trailer with a Badlands (curb weight ~3,750 lbs) you have roughly 300 lbs that you may load in either the vehicle or the trailer before you hit the max GCWR.
The maximum trailer weight you may tow is 1,500 lbs with the base model; 2,000 lbs for the BB/OB. If you tow a 2,000 lb trailer with BB/OB (curb weight ~3450) you have roughly 400 lbs you may load in either the vehicle or the trailer before you hit the max GCWR.
Check the document I linked to in my post. Ford lists the GCWR for the Badlands at 6,260 lbs.You are correct that the GCWR is the total capacity for everything….trailer, tow vehicles, cargo, etc. GCWR does not apply to the Badlands (as you posted) as an individual vehicle. that is called the GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating). Not sure where you got your numbers.
Yeah, that may not have been completely clear. I understand that 2,000lbs is the max trailer weight for the BB/OB with the trailer tow option. My point was you are only 400 lbs from Ford's published GCWR of 5,860 lbs (again, see the link) with a BB/OB towing a 2,000 lb trailer. If you are towing a trailer that is at 2000 lb as you stated, that is the maximum tow capacity of the BB/OB as you stated and you cannot add 400 pounds to the trailer otherwise you exceed the towing capacity of the Badlands even though you are under the GCWR. The only place it can go is in the badlands and adds towards its payload and toward the GVWR of the badlands.

It's called risk management. As long as you know what they are you can mitigate/avoid them.2,000# trailer on the Sport is not a problem as long as it's packed correctly, you keep it under 65, has a properly adjusted brake controller, and is not a large profile above the Sport.
