Anyone else missing the panel under the dash above the passenger side fuse box where the floor air ducts are.

Gave the part number to the dealer they keep asking where I got it from
I said a friend
That's kinda strange that they would ask multiple times where the P/N came from.

It's not as if part numbers aren't readily available.

I

I know you can see it's a Ford part number
Right -- it's an odd question to ask, especially multiple times.

If they were questioning whether it was the correct number, that's easy enough to determine.

When I have a part number available for a retailer (auto, appliance, etc.), it's usually appreciated, not questioned. They may confirm that it's correct but it makes their job easier.

I told him to check with the part department

Got my car 3 weeks ago. Went to pull a fuse and the bottom panel of the dash that meets the fuse box was completely missing. Went to the dealership and they were gonna just pull it off a bronco they had in the lot and that one was also missing it.

I was just on the Tasca Ford Parts website and looked up the panel # M1PZ-78046A25-AA for a 2022 Bronco Sport Big Bend and it said part does not fit this vehicle. I changed the vehicle settings to a 2021 Bronco Sport Big Bend and it says it fits. I know they didn't change anything on the 2022 and forum members have been installing it on their 2022's.
I bring this up because this is how I learned last year that the Engine Cover had been deleted on my 2021 Ford Ranger XLT but not the 2021 Lariat.
I'm starting to suspect that the under dash panel is a victim of Ford's Material Cost Reduction Plan.

This is my opinion as well. I have seen nothing from Ford (not the dealer) stating that this was accidentally left off because they were short parts. I think this is going the same way as the Dodo bird, engine cover, temperature dials, folding headrests, and the lights in the cup holders.

Thanks, ordered this and just picked it up today. It was 60 bucks on parts.ford.com. Should've made my dealer order it, but they are dead to me.
Told mine when the wife got in with wet boots she pushed herself in the seat her foot when up into the dash and got caught up on the wires and stuff I checked under there one bad kick and the hook ups for the ac/heater you can break off the little connectors under there they ordered it and said they will call me back in and put it in

This is exactly what my dealer told me the other day after checking another customer’s car in for service as well. I suppose I could’ve argued the point a bit, but I’m having issues with the way the seat feels & want them to focus on that for me. Have to pick your battles & all that.

I'm glad you're pressing the issue.

That panel should be there, period.

Unlike the engine cover, it serves a purpose (beyond aesthetics). Two actually:

* It protects the wiring
* It lowers the db level from the blower

It is part of the car -- just like the door panels, headliner, and back seat.

I’m going to have to respectfully disagree on it having to be there, but then most of my cars have had manual transmissions, no ABS and manual HVAC. None have had engine covers, under dash covers, folding headrests, or lit up cup holders. I know I’m from a different era, but these are not things that have always been on cars and do not have to be there to be driven.

Sounds like you and I are from the same era.

All of our cars have had manual transmissions (the BS BL is the first AT [manual shift]).

All had manual HVAC.

Those that have ABS are because I specifically ordered it (except the WRX).

None had engine covers -- and if they had I would have stored them on a shelf in the garage.

Likewise with folding headrests, lit up cup holders, and all the rest. I will say that the 1997 RAV4 at least has storage holes to mount the rear headrests in -- something Ford certainly should have provided if they intended to quietly delete the folding headrests.

So we're on the same page there.

As you said, a plastic dash panel is not necessary to drive down the road.

I have to say though that because most older cars did not have under dash covers, it does not follow that more modern cars should not.

1) Older vehicles did not have a lot of things that modern cars have -- crumple zones; air bags; collapsible steering columns; padded dashboards; air bags; child seat tethers; or even seat belts.

They had bias-ply tires, drum brakes, and single master cylinders and we LIKED it!

2) Setting older cars aside -- if a part is supposed to be on a car, it should be provided. End of story.

Ford and it's customers enter into an enforceable contract. Buyer gives Ford $X for a specific vehicle. That vehicle consists of a number of parts and features -- all of which should be included when it is delivered.

If a buyer decides they don't mind the blower noise, they aren't concerned about passengers accidentally kicking the blower, wires, and connectors, and therefore they do not ask Ford and/or their dealer to provide the cover -- that's their prerogative.

OTOH, other buyers are well within their rights to expect that the dash panel be supplied.

The alternative is to allow Ford and other auto mfrs to summarily delete parts from vehicles while expecting buyers to pay the agreed-upon price.

Or other mfrs for that matter. Say a fridge is supposed to come with 5 glass shelves but only has 4. Or the shelves are wire instead of glass. There are any number of examples. People deserve to get what they pay for.
