Any suggestions on where to purchase tires?

My main choices are Ford and Discount Tire. Are there any benefits to buying from Ford?

I'm probably going to Toyo Open Country or MAYBE Yokohama Geolanders in 235/65/17. So more than likely, Firestone's out of the question but I wanted to add that as a possibility.

I live in a small town with a Firestone and Ford dealership. I don't care for Firestone's service department due to past experiences. I had been buying my tires from Discount Tire but the closest one is about 40 minutes away. I do work in a city with several DTs.

I went with tirerack.com
I forgot about them. Did you just have a local shop do the installation?

Why did you go that route? Cheaper? Did you trust the shop more over a national one?

Ya, local shop installed them for me.

I’ve been using tirerack for 20 years. Better pricing than anything local in my town of 2,000 people.

I used to do DT because of the free flat repairs and rotations. And their certificates if anything happens.

How does that work with Tirerack? I can pay for flat repair (and I won't have to drive out of town). Rotations are included with The Works at Ford so that's taken care of. The certificates are what I like. I've had instances where a tire has a puncture that can't be repaired or I'll run over a glass bottle. I guess I can self insure because that stuff doesn't happen too often.

I just had Discount Tire install Falken Wildpeaks. I ordered them on their website where they have a “meet a competitor’s price” option. They met a price I got from tirerack.com and the store experience was great.

TireRack is owned by Discount Tire, operates like an online/deliver to your local shop service. Really great if you don’t have a physical DT nearby.

I've used Tire rack several times. I pay the extra to just have a mobile installer come to my house to put them on.

Use Tirerack to price match at your local Discount Tire. Most tire shops now will offer rotations and inflations as part of the purchase, but unless you want it to be a hassle to follow up, go to Discount Tire. They'll actually get you in and out and back on the road. Ford and Costco will have you make an appointment and then drop off the car and check back in hours later.

Ford will (used to) match other local competitors price plus take off an extra 10%. I’ve used Costco, Discount Tire, and Ford. No issues with any of them. I’d say Discount Tire if you travel a lot.

FYI

In California, anything north of San Diego County is called America’s Tire. Discount Tire cannot use the name in most of California.

Same owner. Same service. Same pricing.
