Advice needed BB or OBX? Long post

Badlands 2.0 L is the only way to go plus you get duel lock and unlock rear diff. Only on the BL. Some day some where your going to need it to get out of trouble good luck on your choice

It's a really difficult question for others to answer for you, since the differences are all sort-of creature comforts. Leather interior is super important to some and not so much to others ... and so are most of the other differences. Best idea is to drive them both and experience the differences.

I'd be a little concerned about a 2022 vehicle that was already looking for its 3rd owner.

The tires on the OBX are not bigger than those on the BB. Both will be a ~28.5" diameter and have the same exact width.

OBX v. BB. Same vehicle mechanics, just different creature comfort options.
New v. third owner of a vehicle with clear history. I'd take the piece-of-mind with the new vehicle. Nothing bad with being a third owner in three yrs, though. Previous owners may have taken advantage of high resale value in pandemic-inflated market in 2022 or possibly just traded in for a Badlands, a full-size Bronco or some other vehicle.
For me, back in Dec 2021, I chose and ordered a 2022 BB with all those options for a few reasons:
1. I've had leather seats in cars, and no longer wanted something that cracks/wears out over time with the heat and humidity. Sure the different color seats would be nice, but my Medium Slate Grey is basically a two-tone color without being dark black.
2. It's a small vehicle so I didn't see the need for Dual-control heating/cooling. Nor did I see the need for 10 speakers v. the standard 6 speakers.
(On another note, there are many posts here on the forum that discuss the lack of high quality sound from the B&O speakers.)

Have fun making your decision. The end result is a winner, no matter what you decide!

Prettier is open to debate. I'll take my factory 17" that came on my Big Bend over the machined-face 18" OBX wheels any day. Cheers!

Completely agree. The OBX wheels are are the ugliest option of them all. I'd take bare rusted base steelies over the OBX wheels anyday.

There is a whole thread on ranking the BS wheel options over on the Wheels, Tires forum. As I recall, OBX wheels were very polarizing. Many hated them. Some loved them. Almost no one was ambivalent to them, easily the most polarizing wheel on the Sport.

I have the Outer Banks, because my wife picked the color (area 51). Then she drove it. Sold.

I saw that thread when it first popped up and never looked at it again. Figured it would devolve into a giant pissing match so I steered clear.

I'll offer a different opinion than everyone else so far. For that close in price, I'd go with the Big Bend. Only real difference is a few creature comfort tech things and nearly 15,000 miles. For the same price I'd go with much fewer miles. Tech add ins don't mean much to me and I'd rather start new than used for the same price.

I was gonna say the new one is good too, but with new, you also get hit with that big first year depreciation on the resale value. At least with the used one, you don’t get that first year depreciation and you get the more features than the BB with the OBX. If you don’t plan on getting rid of it in two to three years, then I wouldn’t worry about the first year depreciation.

Thanks for all the input. I am in agreement with almost every idea here --do I need leather? I have a dog. Might not be a good choice... Do I need 10 speakers? My current car has 2! Two previous owners? Flippers? Something wrong with the OBX? New BB louder than a OBX? I need to sit in them as I've only driven a Base and a loaded BL.

Wheels? Never looked at them before this forum and now I can't un-see them.

There is a '22 Badlands for sale with low miles literally down the road from me at a non-ford, established dealer. This one is also loaded. One previous owner, the same price as the OBX once I sell my current vehicle. All other local choices seem to be loaded or no options at all.

The only options I consider non-negotiable are Blind spot, heated seats and some type of all wheel drive. I suppose a lane centering option would be good as well. When my husband drives we swerve all over the place. Whenever a bird flies across the road he needs to ID it and the car follows his line of sight. Hilarious except for when I have to shout "Guardrail!" If he is eating a sandwich or something on a long trip, he steers with his knee, which I find unnerving.

Of course, I let him use my car as little as possible. He hits things, gets small dents and scratches... Another problem not germane to this thread.
