I connected the bulletpount mounting solutions 25 bronco sport package. Connected right to the two mounting bolts. got a VERY solid phone holder and a GoPro mount connected.

Do you use a Go-Pro and are you using the USB-C ports for a power source?

Thanks. That was my concern, can the USB-C ports can handle the needed power requirements of a dashcam. Obviously all dashcams have different power specs.

It would be nice to know what the power output is from the ports.

I don't intend to use any phone mount.

Been waiting for this for a while, just ordered one. Getting it with the single ball. Not sure what I'll ultimately settle on to mount, so for now the basic mount only. 15% off through GovX isn't bad considering shipping cost and tax would've driven it to nearly $65.

Power for Go-Pro devices vary, should be able to look up the specific Go-Pro model # to see its power requirements

Some examples:
Go-Pro Minimum Power Input: 5V / 1A–2A for older models (HERO7 and earlier)
Recommended Power Input: 5V / 2.4A–3A for modern models (HERO8 to HERO13)

That’s easy to measure using: Klein Tools ET920 USB Power Meter, USB-A and USB-C Digital Meter for Voltage, Current, Capacity, Energy and Resistance

I still have not found a spec from Ford for the power that the USB-C port in the ‘25-‘26 accessory tray can provide

For my 2022, I measured the Center console USB-C Port: 5V/3A which is 15W using a high power USB Cable (USB Cables as well as the end device being powered influence the output power put out by the USB Port - easy to measure with the Klein tool)

Apparently the ROVE R2-4K camera can be powered from the USB-C port in the ‘25-‘26 accessory tray

Not entirely sure but this camera’s USB-C power requirement might be: ~5V @~1.5A (TBD). I still have not found a spec from Ford for the power that particular port can supply.

Also: a hardware kit can be purchased from ROVE to supply power for some amount of recording when the vehicle is turned off

Before moving forward, I'm going to have to decide which dashcam I'm going to buy.

Then decide which power source is capable, dash tray, another fused source, tap into the rearview mirror power source for a window mount or ???

Typically have to tap into 2 fused sources, one that’s on with ignition (like USB or the rearview mirror power source) and one that’s always 12V (hot) - there are optional hardware kit(s) to tap into these sources

I just checked and all seems normal, no out-of-stock notice on any of the configurations.

I don't know much about Go-Pro cameras.

GoPros are more of an action camera. They do come with an internal battery so you'll need to get a replacement door to run it via USB-C. I'm not sure of this part, but if that gets unplugged, it may shut off the GoPro vs swapping over to battery power. They'll also stop recording once the storage is full.

Dash cams are made to survive impacts and to record with the necessary data. This would be good if something goes to court. It'll also automatically overwrite data on the storage once it's filled up.

My personal opinion, if you're wanting a dash cam for dash cam purposes, buy that. If you just want to film your adventures on the road, get a GoPro. I did the latter but may decide on a dash cam now that I'm driving more on the highway.

Are you just using the OEM mounting bolts or did you use the self taping screws too? I just got mine and I'm not excited about drilling into the dash insert if I don't need too. Hoping it's not wiggly without the additional screws. Thanks !
