I have a buddy that has a 2021 with 55,000 miles. So, the FORD extended warranty isn't an option.

What's a good third party warranty that he can consider that will actually pay vs. harass the dealer about work that needs to be done? He's most concerned with coverage on the motor, tranny and electronics.

Thanks!

I don't think there is a good 3rd party warranty anywhere. Stick with a Ford warranty.

I agree! The problem is, you cannot purchase a Ford warranty outside of 36,000 miles. As I mentioned, he has 55,000 miles on the vehicle, so he sort of stuck with a third-party warranty or nothing.

I've never seen a 3rd party warranty that was any good. Most will spend their time trying to get out of paying a claim instead of just accepting it.
You mean the ones on TV that have Danica Patrick advertising for them are no good?!? She would not steer me wrong, would she?

I'm now in understanding with the sales manager at my dealership that pushed me trying to get me to buy the extended warranty.

Generally third party service agreements aren't as comprehensive as factory. And many dealers won't accept them.

You can. I just got one for my 2020 Ranger at 74,000 miles. I'm good for another 60,000. It's a ESP Ford plan and it covers most everything (PremiumCARE). You can also get just a powertrain warranty for much less money. You can pay monthly interest free.

Years ago I was an accountant for a corporation that was looking at buying out a major extended warranty company. I was tasked with doing due diligence research into that company and the extended warranty business. I forgot the exact figure, but at that time extended warranties payed out something like 12 cents for every dollar of revenue they took in. And that was THEIR gross revenue, NOT including the amount extra charged by dealerships and others to make their own profit on top of that by selling the warranties for more than they sent to the extended warranty companies.

Think long and hard about those odds before you ever buy any third party extended warranty.
