I was unfortunately rear ended by a half tonne truck on Friday.

My trunk hatch, passenger side tail light/license plate light/reflector, rear bumper, passenger side wheel well trim, quarter panel all got damaged. Initially, the car wouldn’t start or respond to any key fob buttons, but then a few hours later it would start.

I really love my vehicle and am hoping it’s repairable. Anyone have similar damage and have it fixed? What did it cost?

Furthermore, anyone know what parts availability is like these days?

Those don’t look that bad, I’d be surprised if it gets totaled unless the frame has significant damage. I think the front end has more expensive sensors and controllers than the rear.

If either quarter shows any damage, then it may have frame damage and then the insurance may total it.
The right side quarter panel looks a little buckled where the bumper/wheel well trim squished into it... I hope there's no frame damage. I truly love this vehicle so much and hoped to keep it for a long while yet!!

I hope the best for you. I would not have to lose mine either. BTW you have a right to ask for factory original parts to repair, otherwise the insurance will put aftermarket parts that aren't as good as factory in fit and finish.

Good to know! I have an insurance policy rider that stipulates replacement with new parts (or full vehicle replacement if totalled), but not sure if it stipulates with factory... I will keep this in mind!

Sorry to hear about. It doesn’t seem that bad, but be prepared . . . dent in door of my old 2015 Edge when it was about six months old came to just over $5000. It doesn’t take much damage to reach “total” these days.

First off, hopefully you and anyone else that was involved are okay and didn't get injured.
Your best bet is to take your Sport to a body shop and have it inspected and get an estimate for the repair.
Did the person that hit you have insurance?
Assuming you also have insurance, and file a claim, they will guide you through the steps involved.
If you do not file an insurance claim and you and the other person work something out, you should at least get a repair estimate from a body shop as I mentioned above for a baseline to work from.

We both have insurance! My insurance company says they should have a decision on repair vs. write off to me by the end of the week.

Yeah, this is what worries me. I had my rocker panel’s paint damaged during under coating and that minor damage was $900 to repair. The body work alone from this accident will likely be a few thousand at least, and that’s hoping nothing mechanical or electrical is damaged.

I had similar looking damage to one of my Broncos. I backed into a gate and crunched the hatch and rear bumper. I ended up fixing it myself with a used rear hatch I got off ebay for $1600 (total including shipping) in the same color. I replaced the rear hatch myself and decided not to fix the bumper, I hardly notice it.

The BS is unibody, so no “frame” in the classic sense. It’s all structural, so damage to the body is also frame damage, technically speaking, particularly where corners and door frames are involved. So the old saw about frame damage as a reason to total a car is a non-starter. Even if a ladder frame chassis is damaged, they can be straightened on a jig.

The main and often sole reason insurance will total a car is if the cost of repair is greater than the replacement value.

I hope this works out for you. Better the rear I had a minor collision with damage to driver’s headlight, front fender and quarter panel denting. Nothing most people would notice.
Thankfully no sensors impacted though I had to replace the headlight as it wouldn’t pass inspection. Just the housing was cracked on the side and a sliver missing. $1300 part not including labor. Got a quote for the denting and touch up <$500 from a small shop.
