I would guarantee you virtually any amount of money that an 700W+ Ceramic heater is not active in accessory power or while the auto/start system has the engine shut off. In the 2014 Escape, apparently it was on a separate 80A * 12V = 960w draw max fuse. It also only has to be engaged until it satisfies engine heat demand, or the engine gets warm enough to the point where the car can just use the engine heat and shutdown the supplemental PTC heater.The BS weak battery just loves the heating items.
Someone added it to a vehicle not originally equipped (a 2011 Ford F-150 that had it as an option, but vehicle as-built didn't have it) and the even 13 years ago (2010 for the ford service date), it required an engine temp below 165F, no alternator faults, a certain amount of heat demand (Varying on manual HVAC or ETAC/DETAC inputs), minimum engine RPM 500, engine has to be on.
Following similar logic (and considering how much electrical demand resistive heat is), the PTC heater isn't going to be on during an auto start/stop stop event, or in accessory power.
(Given that the heated seats are on a 20A fuse, I wouldn't be surprised if they too were not actively powered during an auto-stop. They definitely can't be on with engine off accessory power on.)

Yep, my 1.5 does the exact same thing and I have the ptc heater.
So is the PTC on 1.5 equipped engines an option or standard? And is it always active or controlled by a selection? I have a 2023 OBX.
Standard with the 1.5L EB in vehicles originally sold to dealers in 38/50 states, not included in the other 12 states that are deemed by Ford to be "warm enough". If equipped, it should be called out on the window sticker. Note that in those 12 states, you can add it to your custom retail order, but the dealer likely will not do so automatically, except maybe if you're somewhere like Flagstaff, AZ.
It is automatically activated by the computer when needed, it is not user-configurable.

Important call out in the order guide: It is optionally available in the 12 states that it doesn't come standard in for BS models with a 1.5L engine. If you are doing ordering via a dealer in those "warmer states", they should be able to add the supplemental PTC heater to your build.

My 2023 Bronco Sport Heritage was purchased in the summer and this issue was not noticed until the weather recently got colder. With a cold start at 40F in the morning, it takes about 15 minutes for the vehicle's temperature gauge to budge off of the "C" mark, and about 20 minutes for the gauge to reach the normal operating range. The climate system puts out heat, but I believe that it is mostly from the supplemental PTC assist.
I realize that a 1.5 liter, 3 cylinder engine is not a great heat generator, but this delay seems excessive. Also, the engine will not turn off at stoplights because, I guess, the engine is still too cold.
Ford Service checked it out and said that the vehicle is operating within specs. I specifically asked them to check out the coolant thermostat.

Same here.... i have the same with my '23 Sport Heritage (not the Limited) here in CT. Temp gauge shows the little 3-banger takes a bit of time to warm up - especially in cold weather. That said, i have been VERY impressed with the heated seats and PTC assist. i only have about a 15 minute drive to work but a couple of minutes after leaving the house, my arse is nearly on fire from the heated seat and then i must turn it down to low or off. The PTC supplemental heat has the cabin starting to warm up around that time or shortly after. The BS heats the cabin quicker than when i had my '01 Jeep Wrangler (with the straight 6) which was, up until now, the (my) world record holder for heating up the cabin.

The PTC heater that I had on my '17 2.0L Escape is one feature I miss. It was part of the Cold Weather Package for the '17 Escape. But it's not available for the 2.0L Bronco Sport. Ford must have decided that it wasn't necessary for the 2.0L.
