My F150 with the EcoBoost has an exhaust. On a cold start or at idle, it sounds really good (imo), but once the RPMs climp, it sounds like total and complete crap (imo again). I feel the same way about Ford's 4-cylinder engines.....they don't sound good (to me) when you open the exhaust up.

With that said, I am a big fan of people maximing the performance out of their vehicle. Kudos to the OP for making his vehicle his own. If they weren't so expensive and a huge PITA to install, I would buy downpipes for my truck, too; even though I know damn well it would make my truck sound even more like crap than it does now. Why? Because for me, the extra performance gains are well worth my exhaust sounding crappier. Not to mention with the downpipes, when driving around normally like I do 95% of time, you can hear the turbos doing their thing even at low load, which is beautiful music to my ears.
Do You have the 2.7 EB or 3.5 EB in Your F-150?

3.5L. I had a 2015 F150 with the 2.7L. Not a bad engine at all, but the 3.5L is beastly and not an expensive upgrade.

I had like 4-5 F-150's with the 3.5 EB and a 2015 with the 2.7 EB and IMO the 2.7 EB is underrated Power and Torque wise. The 2015 I had with the 2.7 EB ran a 14.53@93 mph in the 1/4 mile and was bone stock.

I work at a large Ford dealership & my office is next to our delivery bay. I hear a lot of different vehicles & I have to say I can't stand the exhaust resonance of the F150 Raptors. I feel the same way about the 2.3L turbo Mustangs, Broncos & Rangers. I still have to get up & check out any 5.0L F150s or Mustangs I hear. I've been doing this over 40 years & the sweetest "stock" exhaust was the GT350s with the 5.2L V8.

Why violate federal law and face a $5,000 fine taking off the converter? If you want more power buy a Bronco Raptor.

Doesn't work that way. Bronco raptor 90k$ downpipe and tune like $800. Not an equivalent, but neither is your point.

The GT350's song is glorious. Simply heavenly.

The exhaust sound on the new Mustangs is nice, but I prefer the old school 1960's muscle car exhaust rumble. IMHO the newer cars exhaust sounds a little tinny to me.

Where in the US can you go without a catalytic conv?think of all the scavengers your making unemployed
Legally? None that I know of......but many states do not require emissions inspections to renew the tag/registration, so you can get away with it in some states.

I’ll stick with mine. It’s loud but it doesn’t sound hollow. And I like loud vehicles, but yours just sounds… off.

Damn, that sounds good but how loud is it on the road. How is the drone when driving 60 down the highway for a prolonged period? Our Broncos are not the greatest when it comes to sound deadening.

I agree. You can't get the deep throaty sound of a V8 out of a 4 cyl. Even a 6 cyl. Many systems sound like fart pipes.

If you have spent time around high performance 4 cylinders the sound is interpreted differently.
