What’s the big draw to Sync 4? I’ve got Sync 4 in the full size and Sync 3 in the Sport. For my use case, they act the same other than I need a wireless adapter for the Sport. I would like to replace the HVAC control with a 21 or 23 as they had the temperature displayed. Thats about 100.00 for one on EvilBay. For now, I just adjust it to see where it is set at. I normally don’t move it much anyways. But both my other vehicles have it displayed so I’m just being persnickty.
We just don't like Sync 3. My girl drives the BS primary and finds it to be hard to use, too. If she is plugged in with CarPlay, to do certain things, she says she has to unplug the phone to access Sync and then plug the phone back in.

I am also hoping that with FORScan and Sync 4, I will be able to customize certain things I have not been able to do with Sync 3 like the rear camera in motion instead of the front, seeing if I can get the mirrors to tilt in reverse, and a few other things I want to try and mess with. Seeing that Ford no longer supports Sync 3 and it's on software from 2023, this is the only way to get something newer in there with that will hopefully allow for some extra customizations seemingly not possible with Sync 3.

That's a great video! Thanks. It's not as bad as I thought.

I’ll have to check mine with it plugged in. I use a wireless adapter and have no issues switching back and forth although admittedly, I normally just leave it on CarPay as default.

I can see where access to modify could go away being an issue but then, for me it’s a non-issue. Other than eliminating the double honk, I don’t mess with it much.

Just went through the service procedure to get to the APIM. Looks like I got my work cut out for me. 😬 Dash and center console both have to be partially taken apart to get to it on these vehicles.

Found that another vendor already has a Sync 4 kit for these vehicles. This is what their 12" kit looks like. I assume these guys are going to do the same. Getting rid of the physical radio buttoms seems the be the only logical way to do it.

And where they will put the "emergency alert button" ? At least in South America, need to be a physical button,

I'm curious about the cost of both the large screen and the small screen.

Good question. I think a physical button is required in the US, too, but I am not sure. The truth is, I have no idea how they plan to fit the 12" screen. I tried to get more info about it, but all I was told is that it will be the same screen they use in the Maverick kit.

Their Sync 3 to Sync 4 kit for the Explorer is $1,249. Their 8" to 12" touchscreen upgrade kit for the F150 is $2,500. Maybe the price disparity between the 8" and 12" kits for these won't be as spread apart as I thought. I figured the 8" kit would be much cheaper since all that is needed is an APIM and a harness, but it does not seem that way.

This is not from Ford. It's a 3rd party company called Infotainment that specializes in these things on Fords and a few other brands. The kit for the Maverick I think is already available.

I did it in a Ford Maverick. I upgraded from Sync 2.5 to Sync 4 with a 12" screen. It was a lot of work.

Oh, right. We have a company backing in Brazil selling for Maverick. They are in my WhatsApp group to create one for Bronco Sport 21-24.

A prototype

Good news: I emailed FORScan support and asked them if they can add Sync 4 support to the Bronco Sport and they agreed to do it. They will be sending me a test-build so I can mess with it before it goes out to the masses. Otherwise, FORScan would not recognize a Sync 4 APIM in my BS or any other BS that does the swap.

So is this for 21-24’s that upgrade specifically, or was there no Sync 4 support at all previously?

Correct..... no Sync 4 support currently exists in FORScan for 21-24 BS.

This will be specific for 21-24 BS that upgrade to sync 4 via whatever means the owner uses. It will allow FORScan to see a Sync 4 APIM in the network so you can fine tune it. Otherwise, when I plug it into FORScan after the APIM swap, it would not appear in FORScan at all. I would still be able to see, configure and flash any other module on the network except the APIM.
