Happens yes. But also common vehicle has defects problems damage and gets traded in. So buyer beware.
Absolutely! Just was pointing out other reasons. I have even noticed a few posts here with people buying one model then ordering another, or trading in after just a couple of months.

I own two Bronco Sports. Mine is a Badlands and my wife's is a Big Bend. I was able to test drive the 1.5 in a Big Bend prior to purchase and really liked it, but thought the 2.0 was a "must have" for me. Now that I have both, if I could get a Big Bend with skids and off road goodies or even a Badlands with the 1.5 I would have no problem doing so. The 2.0 is great, but it isn't groundbreaking and to be honest not a "deal maker." If you aren't going to use it off road, it's really not worth stepping into a Badlands. Buying used is always a craps shoot too. You never know if the car was hooned, properly broken in, or taken care of....
Coming from a 4runner, the Badlands is right up my ally and suits everything I need.
Ford really just needs to offer the 2.0 on the Outer Banks without the offroad goodies for people in your situation. If you think the 1.5 is insufficient don't ever drive a Subaru or Toyota...the 1.5 with the 8 speed beats out most of its competition.

I totally agree with post #21. If you ā€œhaveā€ to have a 2.0 & Badlands features order one EXACTLY as you want. It’s a great time to sell/trade IF you can get a MSRP (or below on a new one), If you can find an honest dealer you can trust. You could join Mustang Club Of America, qualify for x-plan & $1k order rebate with NO dealer addons.
Iā€˜m an old timer who has had a number V8s over the years. My ā€œotherā€ ride is a 5.0L F150 Lariat. My BS is an OBX, tow, cargo mat. Ordered & built just for me. It suits my needs just fine. Rarely will go on forest trails around where I live. I could have bought a full dress Badlands, but just did not need/want the off road capability it comes with.
As for the 1.5L, to me it’s ā€œ The Little Engine That Couldā€. If I need to tow/haul, I have the F150, if we need to haul people, my wife has a 3 row Tahoe.
i just had to fill up both F150 & Tahoe today with regular. $174.00 for both. My BS OBX will go a VERY long way for that.
Life’s a choice, we pay our money and take our chances.
From seeing some of your other posts over the last 4-5 months, I just don’t think you would be truly happy unless you ordered a new one. Absolutely not disrespect intended. Just what I feel.
Good luck with you decision & keep up posted.

If you order new Badlands you will likely get it at sticker, lower finance rates, and highly likely you get huge trade in for current BS. The car shortage sky high used cars looking like here for quite a bit longer so crazy high trade ins not going away any time soon....

Hi, again. I've got quite the issue here and was wondering if I can get some help.

I bought brand new, fresh off the truck, Cactus Gray 21 OB with 360+ and OB package. I've since added the OEM tow hitch and BL rear bumper. I pay approximately $510 a month with roughly $3,200 miles.

I've got an opportunity to jump into a used 21 Carbonized Gray BL with BL package, tow package, and 360+ for just $30 more a month.

I know I won't do any serious off-roading, but I NEED the 2.0L motor and feel a bit of 'buyers remorse' over the 1.5. Again, I know I will probably never use it but damn, i typically like to get top of whatever I buy.

Thoughts?
There are major differences between OB and BL in suspension and drive chain. They really are different cars in that respect and the BL overall in my opinion in those areas an upgrade - whether off road or just local/freeway driving. Now used versus new - that's your choice, but as others have stated a "driver" will know the difference. I have early production 2021 BL. My trade was a 2013 BMW X1 and while the BL isn't quite up to that standard it's pretty close.

UPDATE: I found another white, late production, 21 BL + BL with 360+, Towing package, cargo management with 7.5k miles for under $43k. I know it won't beat ordering it from the factory, but again, who know how the market will be 6+ months down the line. Also, seems as though most 22 BL do NOT include the 360+ package so a prebuilt new one is out of the question. They also offered me $39k for my OB so the payments will be within spitting distance, so totally manageable.

Besides any BS specific quirks, anyone with a BL+BL know of anything I should look out for when I look at this hog this weekend?

I totally agree. The 2.0L should have been offered in the OB aa a sort of "luxury power" version, and the BL as a "Brute off roader" option. They would also need to add more 'luxury' features to the OB that would not be available in the BL, like maybe a "LUXURY" to the GOAT modes, power liftgate, etc ... to separate it from the BL's skid plates, offroad suspension, etc ...

As long as it has similar miles yes. I have a 2.0L Badlands and the engine is very nice. It’s also a heavier engine so it should help keeping the front end down when towing. I added approximately 360 pounds to the tongue weight of the BS Badlands on a 14 foot cargo utility trailer. So in my static test I had 500 plus pounds of weight on the hitch. It dropped some but seemed ok. I wouldn’t add more Weight. I’m to the conclusion that the BS badlands can easily tow the 2,200 pounds, to the point I’m considering selling my Ford 2004 F-150 pickup.

If it's used, I guess I would look it over to see if anything has been replaced. Windshield. Lights. Etc. Dealer may or may not tell you why it was traded, or may tell you something else completely. Check around the edges of the hood and headlights to see if it has a paint chip issue either from factory or being disassembled for repair/mods. Can't think of any specific BL issues you can look into. the 360+ is a lot of tech. I guess check to make sure the adaptive cruise and nav, etc all function when you pick it up.

IMO:
'21>'22 MY.
2.0>1.5 ride. It has power, but also a stiffer and more stable feel.
Long term, I expect the TCoO to be higher on the BL. More components= more service that we probably can't do at home. +25% more to change the plugs... and MPG of course.
The original cost of an upgraded OB and upgraded BL were comparable.

You won't get MY '21 features on a '22 now. And you won't be able to touch the pricing with the increases. I don't think the MY '23 is looking very positive either.

Man in this market.... I say do it. The markup is fine b/c the OB will get such good trade. And Badlands looks kick ass in White.

When we ordered we had not seen a white BS, it seemed uninspiring in photos.

A couple of weeks ago we saw a white BL and it looked good, I would have been happy with that for sure.

The white is nice. I would look at the miles, run a car fax And safety inspection if used. my color picks are Area 5, then cactus grey, then white, silver or grey, then alto blue close third. The rest of the colors I don’t care for? Color choice is subjectiv. I like the white with the grey roof from the pictures. I think jumping up to the badlands is a good move, so I wouldn’t be over ally concerned about color.

Around 7,500k miles. Carfax shows clear. Owner bought Nov 2021 and traded in for big Bronco.
