Yep!! Not one single used vehicle I've ever owned lacked some mystery reason... especially one this new...there are skeletons I'd bank on it
Could be, but don't forget sometimes people can be just stupid. Neighbor once bought a new Corvette, 3 months later he trades in for a BMW. Known a few people to do things like that, losses be damned.

Switched from a 22 big bend (all the features) to a 22 badlands (bone stock no additional features) and have no regrets whatsoever.

Last used vehicle I bought...dealer USED to be a friend. Said it was a dealer demo with 1200.miles, so it was a beauty. A REAL friend who is a mechanic, noticed the wheel liners looked scraped up. Within six weeks I blew a left front shock. Dealer fixed it. Three weeks later blew another. I've never replaced a shock in my years until this point. Blew a third one and took it to a guy I knew. He put a laser on the frame and noticed it was twisted. The hood was offset by a quarter inch. He stripped off fenders and noticed hairline stress marks. Said the dealer likely rolled it and had it put back together. The twist and stress was causing geometry issues. No shock was going to withstand the issues. But that truck was perfect and beautiful...so that friend told me....never again. I'm sure some folks eat their hat realizing the car isn't what they wanted...but those are far and few between I'll bank on it.

Just order a new Badlands. You’ll probably get more than you paid for your OB on trade in ?. Sorry, I’m no help at all.

Happens yes. But also common vehicle has defects problems damage and gets traded in. So buyer beware.

Anyone who doesn’t notice 50% more HP and torque is not a car person. That is okay but a car person will know, feel it, and want it. I will be coming from a 320HP/400ftlb 4 cylinder turbo 2 door hatchback. I know that I would never be happy with that 1.5.

You own one thing but want another and the difference is $30 a month in your eyes? This is really a silly question. Never give up what you want for $30 /mo

Let's see, what are some things you can buy with $30 per month?
  • Eight gallons of gasoline
  • An oil change (if you do it yourself)
  • Subscriptions for Spotify, Amazon Unlimited, AND SiriusXM combined
  • Two movie tickets at your local theater
  • A couple of bottles of decent wine
  • A cheap bottle of scotch
  • Nine McDonalds Happy Meals
These are just a few of the things you'll be giving up if you upgrade. Can you make the sacrifice?

This would be the only downside I can see as the extra $/month can’t be a huge deal in your budget. But then as Wild pointed out too, I’m assuming that’s $30 more per month while keeping your financing term the same. That they’re not trying to hide a huge price difference from OB to BL by increasing the length of your loan term.
The $30 isn't a huge deal, it's more the unknown. I know my vehicle and owned it since new. With 8k miles on the BL its making the 11-hour trip to realize it's not what I expected. Also, the price is $30 more but with a shorter monthly term so, price-wise, its a win.
It's in great condition, but did the dealer say why the previous owner gave it up?
Said it was a 'temp' car until their fullsize Bronco arrived. Could that be a lie? Sure, but it is what it is.
Why not order a Badlands and wait instead of taking chance on used one? Typically used Bronco Sports are super pricey and a lot of times more then a special order and wait new Badlands.
Because with the options I want (360+, tow package, sunroof) I can see it taking many, many months to arrive and unsure how the trade-in values will work by then. Right now, I can make close to $4k trading in the OB. Who knows if the market tanks in 6+ months.

I can give that stuff up, no problem.

A temp car while waiting for full-size Bronco could be a couple different scenarios.
  1. We have to have a car (for whatever reason) but let's take really good care of this temp car so that we have an easy trade-in for the highest dollar.
  2. We just want to have a Bronco right now and since we are trading this one in soon we can punish it like a "red-headed step child".
  3. .......

Yeah, I know. Hence my wee bit of hesitation.

I really get your hesitation, that for me would be enough to stick with what I’ve got. I keep not knowing just what I’d do if I were you. I wish you all the best in the decision, as even sticking with what you have is in itself a decision.
I mean overall I do like the idea best of just ordering what you want & staring over that way, but yes, there’s a risk to that as you’ve identified. Market conditions could change then affecting your positive trade in value & if that’s driving your ability to switch over, then there’s an issue there too.

I wouldn't buy a used lollipop, even if it was only enjoyed for 5 minutes while they waited for someone to bring them a cupcake. Order a Badlands or stick with your OB. Don't accept a used vehicle for a higher monthly payment. You have no idea how they drove that thing and the last thing you want is to wind up with a clunker before its time.
