Waze has been wholly owned by Google since 2013, and fully part of the Maps group since last year. Most Waze functionality is incorporated into Maps (albeit not 100% integration), but headed that way. Waze won't exist as a standalone app much longer.Maybe if I ever get tired of Waze.
waze is far far better than google maps, and they have not incorperated 1/2 of it into google maps, they do intend on keeping it going as a seperat entity. I put google maps up after seeing this yesterday on the internet, the 3d is pathetic at best. dosent work in most areas, I guess if you are in one of the target cities it might work. I am going to the coast next months, I'll try it again when I get to vancouver, but so far google maps is underwhelming. the only thing it has in it that waze dosent and I wish it did was putting in multiple stops (more than two) and optimizing them.Waze has been wholly owned by Google since 2013, and fully part of the Maps group since last year. All good points, but at the end of the day Google Maps still is the best general-purpose nav tool available.waze is far far better than google maps, and they have not incorperated 1/2 of it into google maps, they do intend on keeping it going as a seperat entity. You sure you have the newly announced Google Maps version? It’s slowly being released (I don’t have the update OP posted about).waze is far far better than google maps, and they have not incorperated 1/2 of it into google maps, they do intend on keeping it going as a seperat entity. Ive been using waze for over 10 years, my daughter as well. Wifey likes google maps. I personally find gpoogle takes too many shortcuts, (set up-quickest toutes), left here, right there, rinse & repeat....All good points, but at the end of the day Google Maps still is the best general-purpose nav tool available.
I’ve traveled internationally a good bit with a lot of walking and public transit, and Waze is of no use for that. The ability to find shops, restaurants, and similar (with reviews, menus, etc.) are also areas that Waze doesn’t help.
I use OnX for off-road, so there’s two apps already. I don’t even touch Apple Maps even though it’s native to CarPlay. Google Maps covers traffic flow, accidents, construction zones, and LEO locations well enough, so I don’t see a need for a third app.
like I said it could be that I am in a city of only 100000 people, but the 3d sucked. You sure you have the newly announced Google Maps version? It’s slowly being released (I don’t have the update OP posted about).
Post a screenshot of the Google Maps showing it’s new features if you get the time
How did you get it? I thought it's only available in the US at this time.like I said it could be that I am in a city of only 100000 people, but the 3d sucked.
Google Maps update rollout in Canada hasn’t been announced yes … so you might not be on the right version, does your Google Maps screen show a dedicated "Ask Maps" button directly beneath the search bar, allowing you to ask conversational, Al-powered questions about places or plans?like I said it could be that I am in a city of only 100000 people, but the 3d sucked.
