The concern would be having it become airborne in an accident. Did you have to remove the padding/insulation? That was my understanding with the 245 but my 235 fits fine so the slightly larger 245 should too but I donāt have that experience.I have a 245/65/17 in the back of mine. It's snug though so i only use the nut and bolt to hold my jack. Spare wheel and tie don't rattle at all.
Just to let you know I just tried with a FALKEN WILDPEAK A/T4W Tire size 235/65R17 on the Badlands 17ā spare time rim (which came with the Pirelli 225/65R17) - without trimming foam or letting air out the Falken would not fit. Was too tight against the foam.OP did you ever make this happen?
It's almost time for me to get new tires and I'm looking at 235/65/R16 size. I'm planning to purchase an extra Big Bend wheel to use as the spare. I don't mind putting it on the upper level but I don't want to pull out the foam or do any other adjustments.
Good to know. And yeah, I meant 17" wheel. Did it look like it would be good to fit if you took out some of the foam?Just to let you know I just tried with a FALKEN WILDPEAK A/T4W Tire size 235/65R17 on the Badlands 17ā spare time rim (which came with the Pirelli 225/65R17) - without trimming foam or letting air out the Falken would not fit. Update: But I see you want to use 16ā so my info wasnāt helpful
The Falkan I mentioned as a spare would fit fine by trimming some foam - the falkan tire height is handled by raising the rear hatch Cargo Mat to the upper position where I keep it anywayGood to know. What are you going to do with the spare and extra tire? If it's not going to fit, I don't know if I want to take out foam. It also might not be worth carrying around with me on a day to day basis. Maybe with my hour commute every day, I should carry it. If I had a flat on the way to work, I can just swap them out and go about my day.
Thatās odd, mine fit without any issues. Iām not sure why @Dude had to trim the foam. My Badlands wheel with a 235/65-17 AT3w worked without issue. See my post #3 above.Good to know. And yeah, I meant 17" wheel. Did it look like it would be good to fit if you took out some of the foam?

Did you use the FALKEN WILDPEAK A/T4W Tire size 235/65R17 (not the optional Falken tires for ā21ā-ā24 but the newer and heavier tire)Iām not sure why @Dude had to trim the foam. My Badlands wheel with a 235/65-17 AT3w worked without issue. See my post #3 above.
