I have an OBX and the 18" fits but to secure it I needed a longer LJ6Z-17091-C Lug wrench stud that comes with the Badlands. I believe the pic is the shorter lug. I do like the wheel front up to check air pressure easier but even turned around with the jack , the original stud was still too short on a OBX wheel, anyway.

The 235 is 0.4 inches wider and 0.5 inches larger diameter than the 225/65R17 spare on my Badlands. I assume the space is the same on the Big Bend. Just looking, I don't think it would be a problem to fit the larger tire. That is what I plan to do when these tires wear out.

Yes. Similar to @rocks , I 3D printed a new nut to allow the use of a standard Badlands wheel with the 235/65-17 tire. Fits in the well perfectly other than having a full size spare requires your floor to be placed in the upper position.

I have a 245/65/17 in the back of mine. It's snug though so i only use the nut and bolt to hold my jack. Spare wheel and tie don't rattle at all.

The concern would be having it become airborne in an accident. Did you have to remove the padding/insulation? That was my understanding with the 245 but my 235 fits fine so the slightly larger 245 should too but I don’t have that experience.

There was no insulation in mine. It just fits very snug. I have to work pretty hard to get it out so I'm not worried about it coming out in an accident. Plus there's the floor board on top of it.
