I found the hard to get engine cover for my 2022 BS Wildtrak (LatAm export model destined for Colombia) on AliExpress of all places. Turns out it was from a Chinese Ford dealer. At first it looked on their site like a knock-off, turns out it was the real deal.

I know they look nice but they keep the heat in, maybe good for the winter.
I think Ford cut them out for a reason, saving money on warranty calls rather than trim.

they don't keep heat in, they are pretty much a cover plate and the sides and underneith are still open.

Hi,
That does look pretty sweet. Do you have a link for ordering the engine cover? I would like to see if they have one for my big bend 2025.

My understanding was that Ford stopped making them for two reasons: difficult to make, and to keep costs down.

I am probably in the minority, but I am glad I did not get the cover. The first Fall I had my BS [Sept. 2024] I was doing a check before going on a road trip. Right there on top of the engine was a pile of twigs, grass, and seeds. Would of all been hidden if I had the cover. I cleaned out all of the mess and zip tied a couple of TomCat bait stations in the engine bay. Also put a piece of hardware cloth on top of my cabin air filter. I have not seen any more signs of Mr. Mouse

Wow, great job sourcing that one! I wonder how many of these covers are sitting around in junkyards? Probably less than you think. Modern car dismantlers pull a few choice components off a wreck and then scrap the rest. Stuff that isn't moving fast is garbage to them. Like if you need the spare tire cover? Forgetaboutit! The guy at the yard rips it out first to get the spare wheel and tire into inventory then uses the thing as a creeper to get the underside picked.

Car engines operate between 200 and 300 degrees (F). Plastic pieces will eventually get brittle regardless of a partial, elevated piece of foam. At worst the cover is completely aesthetic. At best it provides some sound buffer for the cams and valves. It's a water cooled engine. The only study that backs up heat damage claims is armchair scientists with youtube channels. The car is equipped with several underside heat shields and possibly a skid plate. If it needed air cooling, all of that equipment would be detrimental. What about the auto-closing vanes on the radiator? They block air flow and they're plastic. Where are all the factory or aftermarket turbo covers and intake wraps for the car to manage heat soak?

yup,we hear all kinda of things on the internet eh.

if you think about it the car hood does the same thing except it seals the whole engine bayso it is holding heat in, where it is actualy dorecting cooling air flow through the engine bay.

now if it sealed to the sides of the engine then yes I would agree, it may hold some heat in to the head area, but it is just basicly a dress up cover for the top of the engine. ford stopped using it to save 5 bucks a car.

Here I always thought it was an insulated table to hold your beer while wondering where to start fixing an issue.

Yes well it does trap heat on top of the engine, if its enough to degrade components who knows and I no longer care lol

Many vehicles, including turbos have engine covers today. The heat thing is BS. It's the cost savings on each vehicle sold. Automobile manufacturers have been deleting items. Looks at the last 4-5 years on the BS.

I hate to break it to you BUT it does retain heat. It covers a significant portion of the engine, heat rises, it only moves horizontally when it meets a restriction, then that trapped heat further heats whatever it passes over that normally would have dissipated its own heat.
is it enough to cause a heat soak problem? Maybe yes, maybe not, but it will still make things hotter...
