I use the remote on the fob and it has always worked for me. Tried the app once and it worked but was much slower but worked. Wrote that off to poor cell coverage in my rural area and never tried it again.
You should be able to tweak your wiper arm and get rid of that clacking. Use a couple of Cresent wrenches and bend the arm slightly until the rubber is perpendicular to the glass. Might take a couple of tries to get it right, but in my opinion much better than taking it back to dealer that...
Is it possible that you have a rodent problem? Mice chewing up the insulation and then as you drive it works it's way out of the gap around the handle.
I bought one soon after I got my BS. It lasted a little less than a year and then stopped working. Found out you can repair it by baking in the oven, now it is working again. Works great when it isn't broken. Used velcro and mounted it to top/roof of the cubby hole.
I went with overlays, just because to me it seemed easier and faster, took all of 5 min. I do understand what Mike is referring to, the voids are there, they are just a little smaller. The letters are a little bigger so things get squished together but still happy with getting rid of white...
I have no experience dealing with the issues you are having, but it seems as tho many of the things I own today(phone, tv, laptop) benefit from a reboot. Maybe disconnect the battery for a few minutes?
