Changing rear Ford emblem to black Ford emblem

I didn't want to go with the vinyl overlay so I used some Ford points to order a black replacement cargo door Ford Emblem. I'll probably go with the painters' tape all around the emblem to help prevent scratching. How difficult are the tabs to unlock for the removal of the emblem?

Nevermind. Got it off pretty easily. Added tape around the emblem, added heat and used bodyfill spreaders to loosen and remove. Black emblem coming tomorrow.

I removed the inside hatch panel to pinch the end of the tabs together while removing from the outside.

But new one will pop right in now

I broke one of the tabs but got the broken part out easily. It has to be tough taking the emblem off from the outside without breaking one or both tabs. I like that holes are there for the install.
I was surprised very, very little glue residue on the paint. I was ready with a eraser wheel to remove the heavy glue if there.

Yeah it removes in 4 pieces. After you pop off the handle covers, which has two t25 screws each behind. Then just clips holding it on. And tere's just the harness clip for the puddle lamps after that to unplug

I had very little adhesive residue. A quick wipe with 3M adhesive remover.

I like Ford parts is a two-day delivery. At least on this item.

$5 can of plastidip did wonders. Took 2 seconds. And if I ever change my mind, I just peel it off.

This is the way. I had the vinyl overlays on for years and finally decided to use plastidip instead. So much better looking now IMO.
