Is this going to be facing forwards towards the driver or downwards?
The 1st cubby light i put in I put it pretty far back in the cubby facing downwards towards, when I put my phone in the charging slot I could see the reflection of the led on the phone screen and it bothered me, alot, 2nd time I installed the light further forward towards the front entrance of the cubby and no reflection is visible on my screen.

I ended up using a 1" piece of an ice blue cob light which was still very bright and a 5v dimmer switch, the 1" cob led was stuck to the top of the cubby with 3m, it's powered from the 12v in the cubby, all the wiring is tucked away nicely and can barely be seen.

Hu? In the cubby, facing forwards towards the driver, which would be towards the back of the car, was that really that hard to understand?
If you look at the piece he's made it looks to be maybe 1" by 1/5" placing that in the cubby facing downwards would take alot if room, facing it forwards towards to the driver, towards the back of the car, I would have thought would be in either the driver/passenger/ rear passengers view.

Not for you, apparently. For me, yes. Forward is toward the front of the car. If it's in front of the driver facing forward then it's facing away from the driver. Didn't intend to offend, was genuine confused.

LoL. Not offended, I see the confusion, but if you faced the led lights forwards towards the front of the car in the deep in cubby, i wouldn't have thought you would have got much benefit from it, d'no we'll see what he does with it.
Edited to ease with confusion. LoL.

This will be firing towards the gear selector area not down for the same reason you mentioned, to avoid reflections. I haven’t got much time to work on it. It is painted and clear coated, though not pretty. I need to get the wires set up. Hopefully install today. Going to hardwire like everything else so I’ll still have the power points available for options.

Was working on wiring and dropped it on garage floor. Cracked it and messed up the finish.

Soooo Re finishing. The first coat of paint showed all the imperfections anyways. Hopefully get it painted and in the car before Friday afternoon. Hopefully it looks better this go around. Got a trip planned this weekend and it'll be a good test.

Hit it with some bondo again and a gel coat of resin is curing now.

I was able to paint it and get 2 good coats of clear on it. Middle led decided to quit working after I got wire all neat and tidy. Maybe I got too hot with solder or something, not sure.

We'll call this one Version 1. It was supposed to fit in the circled area pointing forward. But 3M tape wasn't cooperating and end result was chunkier than I had needed it. Ended up wedging it in opposite corner.

End result is good even with 2 leds out of the 3.

Already got ideas for Version 2. Going to work with materials I'm used to. Fiberglass takes too long, too many steps and not very forgiving. For this instance anyways. Itvwas a good experiment though

Start of version 2 pocket light. Going to copy the factory pocket light but bigger. I didn't measure the pocket at all yet but cut these pieces of lexan at 5" and 1/5" x 1/5". Sanded 3 sides left 1 clear finish which will be the front.

Didn't have chrome paint, only had gold and an almost metallic hammered texture silver. So did one each way to see which one is more reflective or if it makes a difference.
Will be using 2 leds one on either side firing at eachother.

Painted over the outside. Rustoleum and duplicolor don't get along great. Going to get leds in these and test brightness. The install will require some cutting off factory trim pieces.

Either this which is basically free or $50-$80 for the factory one and still have to mod it like the cup holders.

Before I did my cubby mod, I went the factory route, and honestly could barely tell it was on, these look like they are going to give much more light off, is this going to be mounted in the same location as the factory one or somewhere else in the cubby area.
Are you going to drill a hole in each end for the led to fit into?

i looked at the space yesterday. Definitely going to have to cut it down from 5” but yes stock placement area and leds will be inside the lexan and bonded in place. Going to have to pull that tray out to work on it I think.

Well here's what I made work. Not sure if it's brighter than the oem light but it matches the blue.

Started by removing the piece not too bad clips were the hardest part.
then shaved off the plastic where the factory clear plastic light emitter would have gone.

Couple dabs of crazy glue. Then a couple more. This stuff is really good for plastics.

I have all these extras going to An add a fuse on the passenger side fuse box. I'll probably get a distribution block of some kind at some point just haven't found one I like that's small enough. I got all the positive leads wire nutted together from the add a fuse, and the negative wires wire nutted together from a circle lug to one of the 10mm bolts down there for ground.
The two usb c cables for the wireless phone charger holders are in their own cigarette lighter type power point down there too.

I'll get a night pic tonight. We're supposed to hit a movie later
