I've had a couple of big bend loaners from the dealer. I had no problem with acceleration.

It's not a mustang, so.....
I think this brings up a fair point though that speed, acceleration, pickup etc. can sometimes be a more subjective feeling. If someone is coming from a Mustang or other sports car to something with a bit of a smaller engine it might feel a little slow

Never had a problem getting up to speed at all. I drive it (3 cyl 2023 BB) with a heavier foot recently. I used to baby it like I had an egg on the gas pedal. Shifted a bit rough and sort of felt the bogdown lugging thing that some folks complained about on the 3. Seems like the engine is really shifting smoother driving it a bit aggressive for the past few hundred miles. Sport mode is fun but I like it better in normal with a bit of a leadfoot.

I came from a 2007 Ford F-150 with the 4.6; I used to own a 2014 Mustang Boss.

This 1.5 3 cylinder amazes me with its giddy up and go.

If you are getting up to speed on the interstate and the semi in your rear view mirror is growing alarming larger- this is not a subjective thing. I often use acceleration to move ahead of cluster-f***s on the interstate to get away from a dangerous situation. Get a half-mile ahead and then slow down. I generally drive 7 mph over the limit on the highway. I have 245/65's and they are about 2 mph slow at interstate speeds. I use WAZE nav because it shows your gps speed. Normally this is not an issue, but if you are one of those guys who wants to stay just under that 10 mph threshold that will get you pulled over it could be expensive to rely on the speedomter.

That’s fair. But like I’ve said before if you can’t merge safely onto a highway with either one if these engines it might be time to put the car keys down and stop driving! Lol

and yes I have 245/65 on mine as well and got the speedo recalibrated for that very reason.

I love my 2023 Bronco Sport Heritage, but there is no pickup. I like to zoom onto the beltway but have trouble increasing speed.

Anyone else? I’ve trained all my cars, but my husband is a slow driver, so that may account for the loss of speed.

Anything I can do to get faster response?
I went the Pedal Max route, had it on my 16 Focus, 18 EcoSport and now on my BB. It's a simple "plug & play" (takes a whole minute or so) $289 and responds like a "tune" Oh, did I mention I picked up 2 mpg? 31.6 mixed driving in eco mode

Are there any downsides to these?
This type of device does not provide more horse power nor torque from your engine, it just changes how the throttle signal is perceived to make it more responsive, i.e. Tells the engine more throttle faster. They can make the car more responsive to throttle inputs but it doesn’t change engine tuning or fuel efficiency, other then acting like you are far more aggressive on your gas pedal. Several of these brands of devices, Pedal Commander, Pedal Max, anything that just sits inline with your throttle cable have been reported to have several notable issues. The first being that because its throttle only, it doesn’t distinguish between your car being in “Drive” or “Reverse”, meaning that if you are not aware and paying attention, you will reverse with greater throttle response. Additionally, and perhaps more severe, the inline “Throttle Enhancers” take power from the Throttle sensor and can, and have been reported to many times, overload the throttle circuit and temporarily brick your car. The throttle will shut itself off, you will lose your gas pedal and restart your car to get it back. My older brother had this issue several times on his Toyota Tundra.

Some companies claim to avoid this issue by instead connecting to your OBD2 port (Banks Pedal Monster) but there isnt a lot of independent research to verify their claims.

Make sure you are using the recommended 91 octane per the manufacturer for best performance. If that still doesn’t do it for you try installing a k&n washable air filter. The filter alone made a noticeable difference for me before even before installing an aFe Power cold air intake.
