Good to see all the positive on the well accepted 1.5. I posted this thread to get those who may be contemplating a BS purchase to not worry about all the negative posts that get posted with no merit.

I feel kind of awkward here a bit, commenting, as a Badlands owner. But I just wanted to say, FWIW, it won't be long before 3 cylinder engines are commonplace, and the secret sauce is perfected. We all know that ICE's are just going to continue its trend of economization, and its next natural step is turbo 3's instead of turbo 4's. I think it was alluded to on the 'other' thread. Everyone with V6s and V8's used to SCOFF at turbo 4s. They were not taken as sriously as they are now. Once, they perfect the secret sauce, the cat will be out of the bag.

ICE's are going smaller, and will never go bigger again. ?ā€ā™‚

So the way I see it, all y'all had the chutzpah to be pioneers.

Same here - issue-free 1.5 Big Bend coming up on two years of driving in a couple of months. Approaching 17,000 miles, and I still love this vehicle. I have no complaints about the motor still, it has plenty of power for anyone other than someone who wants to drive on the racetrack. I test drove it before I ordered it and I was pleasantly surprised with the power the tiny motor produces. Heaven help me if the turbo ever goes out though LOL  I almost never think about that though

Yeah i see hate on the 1.5s here. I dont care tho and definatley not gonna lose sleep over it.
coming up on 76,000kms on ours, from -40c winter to +40c summers. And to be perfectly frank we are not easy on our sport, we drive it pretty hard and haul our 155lbs cane corso everywhere. We like to adventure and explore abandoned areas. Id drive it anywhere.
Base model here with bfg k02

I love my lil triple.

Agreed. Blasting a particular engine because of component failure is pretty short-sighted. These things happen to practically every make of car on the road. Ford will work out the bugs (if any), and the 1.5"s will log many, many miles as time goes by.

My 2007 Pilot, which I consider one of the best cars I've ever owned, had some issues too. We replaced the bad components, and she now has almost 270,000 miles on her. It was well worth the expense to get her repaired.

I've owned many Fords. None were perfect, but all were great cars that lasted a very long time. I expect no less of the Bronco Sport.

I love my BS and I am amazed at how much power Ford squeezed out of this motor. My brother brought his Mustang GT with a manual when he was with me while I was shopping for my '23BB BS. (We bought 2 cars from the same salesman. He threw in all types of goodies and free oil changes). We have taken some road trips together in my BB BS and he is kind of shocked at how well the 1.5 gets up to speed and maintains it. We drove on the NYS thruway for about 50 miles at speeds around 80 and he said he was blown away by the engine...and he is a 5.0 freak. He had 2 Mustang GTs.

Had my Outer Banks for 3 years and 30,000 miles with no problems. Pulled a 2,000 pound camper all summers also.

If I get even half of the mileage length with the BS (1.5) that I have currently with my F-150, I'll be pleased.

Awkward to comment here as a 2.0L owner, but when I bought my BS, the factor driving me to get the 2.0L wasn't concerns about the reliability, it was wanting to have similar oomph to the car I replaced (my 2015 Ford Fusion Titanium had a 2.0L I4 Ecoboost) and reports that there were some annoying vibrations/RPMs in certain gears on the 1.5L.

I will say that the jury is still out somewhat on the 3 cylinder dragon because it's relatively new (the 2.0L twin scroll was more of a tweak of the existing engine design), but in terms of vehicle reliability, the engine (1.5L or 2.0L) ranks way lower than much of the rest of the car. These cars have sensors, programming, electronics out of the wazoo nowadays. The headlights are sealed assemblies so if a headlight goes out you're spending over $1K on the part alone for a headlight... buy Ford Protect from a dealer that will sell you at/barely above dealer invoice for the time/mileage you plan to own your car is just common sense if you plan to own the car >5 years, in my opinion.

(For those who would say Ford would not sell extended warranties if they generally did not make money on them, Ford's costs for both parts and labor are far less than what you or I would pay to fix an issue out of warranty.)

This is true if you buy parts and labor from a dealership. Not so much if you can do the work yourself or have access to an independent shop you trust.

After reading all the posts on this thread. I have to say I have a lot more confidence with the 1.5. :)

Agreed. Like I've said 100x on here the 1.5 is a great engine that offers plenty of power and reliability. My favorite is when folks on here say they are scared to drive the 1.5 because they don't have enough power and might get rear ended on the highway.

If 180 HP can't get you safely onto a highway you are objectively a bad driver and should switch to bicycles. ??ā€ā™‚
180 HP
that was the determining factor
first vehicle was a '64 Buick Special
V-6, single barrel carb, 180 HP
ample get up and go
right back where I started
180 HP works fine

Keep in mind, the number of people with issues represent 1% of all units….and the 1.5 is by far the best seller…

Help me out. Where’s the 1.5 hate? I see some 2.0 preferences… but hate?
