Anyone else receive a letter that graciously offers them $20 whole dollars for not installing the mobile hotspot feature in my BB. ( it’s been a whole 14 months of ownership). To be honest I didn’t realize I had the feature ( or rather didn’t )but now I feel slighted that it’s worth less than a tank of gas.

I am guessing that your Bronco Sports were built at least before July 2023. I had a 23 Bronco Sport on order and it was built around the end of July 23. The window sticker included a 20 credit for wifi hot spot removal. I assume your window sticker did not include the credit. I really did not care about the feature but I thought a $20 credit did not come close to covering what the feature probably would have cost to add to the Bronco Sport if it was an option. I ended up with a 24 Bronco Sport where the wifi hot spot was officially deleted and not included on the window sticker.

That is my point. What did they save by not putting it in? $20 really? I don’t need it, I just thought that was insulting. How about a decent credit for Ford accessories or something?

20$ for just the software or the actual hot-spot circuitry?
If it was just the software they could have put it on the software updates.
But the circuit for hot-spot, that's got to cost more than 20 bucks

I purchased mine March 31, 2023, and I had the $20 credit listed in the window sticker.

I'm guessing that's about how much the hardware/licensing costs for the modem.

I wonder if they're installing them now. I think I read that it uses the BS's antenna to get better reception so it could help in poor coverage areas.

I agree with you that $20 is Ford’s cost for the chip that provides the hardware for the AT&T Hotspot Modem.

Do you remember where you read that the AT&T Hotspot Modem uses the BS's antenna to get better reception?

That differs from my info which is:
AT&T Hotspot Modem Antenna (if equipped) is a separate antenna unaffected by the Shark Fin Antenna.
AT&T Hotspot Modem Antenna location is behind the dash at the 8” Display.

Take the 20 bucks and get yourself a cup of foo foo coffee at Starbucks.

My point is that it would cost more than $20 for the guy to take it out of the packaging. Seems like an insult lol

It could have been hardware ( an IC chip, or daughterboard) and a licensing fee for any software to integrate into SYNC 3.

$20 for a chip that runs the modem seems about right to me given the volume at which Ford buys them. This is likely the same chip they put in every one of their vehicles that has a WiFi hotspot option not just the BS. I agree with the others that I don’t find this insulting.
