I've loved my Outer Banks (<24,000 miles) and it's performed near flawlessly for me the last 2 years. I was at a stoplight today and out of nowhere it completely died; doors would not unlock, flashers did not work, nothing, nada. Fortunately some people stopped behind me and put their flashers on. Also, I always carry a portable battery and that did start the car enough to get it home safely into my garage.
I've spoken to my local Ford dealer and I'll have the car towed there next week. The service advisor suspects either a battery or alternator issue. I'm reading many of you have had similar problems. Hoping this is a one-time incident and not an indicator of future reliability.

Best of luck to you, pray for the best. Stories like this scare the Hell out of me , especially at only 24K.

I suppose the fortunate part of this is that we are heading out into a remote area of Utah tomorrow and we were planning on taking the Bronco Sport. We would have been in a world of hurt if the car died out there. We are now taking my husband's Jeep. I can't even wrap my head around what we would have done in that situation.

Fortunately you were carrying the portable jump starter. I'm waiting on a new fleet vehicle for work, so I'm in a 2023 Chevy Traverse with 16,000 miles and it's battery died last week. Did the BS through any errors or have any random dash lights on?

No warning whatsoever, just died while waiting at a traffic light. Once the battery was jumped it cycled through all sorts of weird messages. It all happened so fast I can't even tell you what they were. All that was on my mind was getting out of traffic and home.

It's the battery. Easy fix.

Are rhe batteries lead acid? Was told if a vehicle has auto start stop, it should have an AGM battery or it will be nothing but problems.

I truly hope so. It needs to be towed to the dealer and they've told me it will probably be at least a week or 2 until someone can look at it. I'm a bit surprised/disappointed that Ford isn't able to prioritize their vehicles that are under warranty and die out of the clear blue.

Perhaps a naive question but how to I tell what kind of battery I have.

Are there any other dealers by you? I’d be calling around to them and try to find someone that can look at it sooner. Shouldn’t take a week or two for someone to test a battery and drop a new one in.

Sadly the next closest dealer is almost 50 miles from me. I'm not in a major metropolitan area.

I agree, 1-2 weeks seems a bit extreme. I'll stay on top of them once they have my vehicle in their possession.

Perhaps a naive question but how to I tell what kind of battery I have.
See Dude's post from another thread (look at the part number on your battery):
I should have just said “Examples” as in the following since I have no idea how many battery part numbers Ford has used for the Bronco Sport:

Examples: (not a complete list)
BEF-48H6-A,
BEF-48H6,
BHEF-48H6
Lead-Acid
EFB: Enhanced Flooded Battery

BAGM-48H6-760 (AGM)
AGM: Absorbent Glass Mat

And perhaps the variety of part numbers relates in some way to battery problems bronco sport owners has reported both with the EFB and maybe to a lesser extent the AGM battery. ?‍♂
Cheers!

Thank God ! He does work in mysterious ways. Have fun, stay safe but with the Jeep that will be a given.

All newer vehicles have a constant battery drain from the multiple computer systems Unless you drive long distances regularly, the battery never gets a full charge.
Get a battery maintainer/charger and plug it in when parked. They only draw 1 or 2 amps.
