The Fordpass modem will sleep when the battery charge gets low and throw that error in the app. You can also get random errors if they battery charge gets low or they're doing work on your car (this deer hit in June caused a lot of errors in FordPass app while they were working on the vehicle).

According to the Bronco Sport manuals, BS models should have either shipped with an enhanced flooded battery or an AGM. An EFB charges twice as fast as a standard SLA battery. An AGM charges 5 times faster than a standard SLA (or AGM is 2.5x faster charge rate than an EFB).

If a vehicle is infrequently driven and the location is convenient for a trickle charger, that's a good way to help maintain the battery charge and condition. There may be less of a need for trickle charging if you have an AGM, or if you disable the auto start/stop system.

Auto start/stop is always disabled when we start it. In my case, I'm sure it's because it sits in the garage for 5 or more days before it's driven. We have had it almost 8 months, and have less than 1200 miles on it.

That's super low mileage for how long you've owned a vehicle. I can go 5+ days without driving my car, but when I do I usually don't have a ton of stops so the battery gets some opportunity to charge. The overwhelming majority of my mileage is long road trips during the summer, but I can easily go 6-7 days without driving anywhere most weeks and I haven't had any battery charge warnings on my car.

Just curious, did your BS come with EFB or AGM? My vehicle was built in January, arrived to dealership mid-Feb, came with an AGM.

A quick update, jumped the battery and drove to the dealer rather than towing. They ran a diagnostic on it and indeed it was the battery. They replaced it with an AGM battery and 2 hours later I was on my way.

A couple side notes, the battery was tested earlier in Oct and all was good with it. The battery failure can happen at anytime and out of the clear blue. The service manager told me that if a vehicle has auto start/stop, it should have an AGM battery.

Thanks again for everyone who chimed in.

I've loved my Outer Banks (<24,000 miles) and it's performed near flawlessly for me the last 2 years. I was at a stoplight today and out of nowhere it completely died; doors would not unlock, flashers did not work, nothing, nada. Fortunately some people stopped behind me and put their flashers on. Also, I always carry a portable battery and that did start the car enough to get it home safely into my garage.
I've spoken to my local Ford dealer and I'll have the car towed there next week. The service advisor suspects either a battery or alternator issue. I'm reading many of you have had similar problems. Hoping this is a one-time incident and not an indicator of future reliability.
Hi there! I can look into your Bronco's power loss concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your Bronco's VIN?
