Like all of us, can't wait to get my hands on my new Bronco Sport. I hope Ford's keyless system has gone a step further to keep my Bronco.....mine.

I always add my own 3rd. party paging alarm system with a key fob that confirms you are locked. It's great for example, if you walk into a hotel and are not 100% sure you locked the vehicle. Or, if someone messes with the vehicle and the alarm goes off, you will be paged.

Thanks Cyclone Cowboy. If I understand correct, the coded RF signal generated by the key fob can be recorded, copied and used to enter and drive your car/truck away. Does the Bronco Sport keyless system have any enhancement to prevent this? Or should I keep my keys forever in a Faraday pouch. Cheers

Wasn’t there an explanation on this recently, that the RF won’t activate the locks unless it senses the key fob moving? If it’s laying on a table for example, the signal shouldn’t transmit... at least that’s what I understood.

I wouldn’t worry about it. Just locking your doors will deter most criminals. If they really want your car though, they will get it whether it’s with electronics to steal RF codes or a hammer to break your window.

Tdubz, quite true. The best one can hope for is to slow down a potential thief where they move on to something easier. I have a classic 69 Cougar where I walk off with the rotor in my pocket......cheap, cheerful and effective.

I have never owned a car with a keyless system......to have a thief walk up unlock the doors and drive away puts a different spin on things.

Yes the signal goes to sleep after 40 seconds without motion
That's good news, does it also sleep once the vehicle is started or in motion? It's like a missile battery.....turn on the signal only long enough to get the job done and avoid a nasty surprise.

Thanks for your comments.

Question: is the Faraday pouch just for storing the fob while in your house? In what other circumstances would you use it? Do you stick it in there when you reach a driving destination too?

does anyone use clubs?

In pocket or purse, you wouldn't want an accidental unlock or autostart of your unattended vehicle, if within range.

Clubs? As in one the trunk monkey uses?

Yup, Club’s tough — so they cut the steering wheel instead and remove the club. Nex buyer saves enough money to buy the “wazzz wazza” steering wheels I‘ve seen advertised through the forum. ?

Not sure which thread they were on, but there are some replacement steering wheels available — just lots of dollars as I recall.

While we cannot make a vehicle fool proof in the area of theft prevention, the club is a good option.

All we can do is make it harder for a thief, and divert them to an easier target. I read awhile back that a car thief does not want to spend more than a minute (or less) attempting to get into a vehicle, or driving off in it. I'd think that sawing off a club, or ripping it off and damaging a steering wheel can fall into the category of too much time or attracting too much attention to what the thief is attempting to do.

You may confirm your Bronco Sport is locked using the FordPass app.
