It's Time For a Car Wash!

Just wanted to share this video of me taking our '23 Bronco Sport Outer Banks to our newest car wash in town. I normally don't take my vehicles to car washes because I normally do it myself and I don't want to develop swirl marks on the paint. But being in South Florida, summer heat is around the corner and it's already getting brutal! I pulled out my lazy card and decided to give in and take it through a car wash and just do touch-up right after. Plus, I went with a good friend of mine with vehicle to this car wash to try it out and we both really enjoyed it. So during the summer months, I'll just drop by every couple of weeks and take it on through. It beats baking out in the sun for a couple of hours doing it myself. Even during the evening hours, it's still very hot! This way most of the hard work is done and I only have to spend 30 minutes doing touch-up work. And for only $10, how can you go wrong?

That looks like a carbon copy of the one I use. I have no problem with it as I’m not that persnickety (yep - it’s a word) about my paint. Your wash must not blow dry as hard as mine ‘cause my hood vibrates a LOT more during the dry part (but not much when driving).
I won’t go into how much I use the wash (at least monthly if no rain), but hand wax about twice yearly — said I don’t worry about paint, BS sits outside in the sun, etc.

After hand washing a Challenger for the past few years, this BS is a piece of cake. I've got no gripes in using a car wash, but still enjoy doing the hand wash on the weekends.

After my outside chores are done here in sunny north central Florida, I treat myself to a jump in the pool!

know the risk

Those can cause a lot of damage to clear coat and swirl the paint. I know it’s new and exciting and probably did a good job...but experiences show that they will eventually do damage.

1) they use a lot of chemicals
2) the brushes are aggressive and effective on dirt and grime...as a result, hard on your paint
3) some recycle the water
4) the same brush that’s spinning on your bumper and across your wheels and tires also spin across your paint
5) overtime those facilities become poorly maintained. What gave you good results a year ago and imprinted in your memory as a good place to go now doesn’t perform like it used to. damage slowly occurs
6) hey, you don’t know who’s been in there before you. Kind of like a gas station bathroom. Billy bob just romped his pickup through the swamp and then went through before you.

no touch washes only for me
or I get off my lazy ass and hand wash at home.

I never used car washes....but now I do. At 65 its pretty tough to wash and wax and vacume. Any way a brand new state of the art wash opened near me. Its 25 bucks a month. I can take both my Bronco and my F250 Tremor (try washing one of those). I can Take either car once a day. There are vacs, window cleaner, and micro fiber cloths all included. Mat washers....etc... This car wash even dresses your tires! I now use car washes!

OK. I'm almost convinced. After reading car wash horror stories for the past year, I've been reluctant.

I used to only hand wash my cars, then water rationing hit us and car washing stopped. Fast forward a few years, now I’m 74 (lazy to boot), and like Bruce said vehicle maintenance is getting tough. I care less about swirls/scratches than I do about the recovery time from over doing it out in the sun. Paying $12 and viewing from 10 feet back make my BS beautiful!

When we do not wash our vehicles ourselves in our driveway, we have a local car wash where you put in about $3.00 in quarters & wash it yourself under a canopy, so you are out of the sun.

Why is it always lazy asses? Did you ever think maybe someone. Doesn’t have any legs or an ass even? Maybe they’re working 12 hour days, 6 days a week, and just don’t want to spend their day off washing a car while their family sits inside waiting for them. Maybe they live at an apartment and can’t wash at home.

Can we stop shaming people because they don’t want to do the stuff you want them to do? It’s how I broke a critical bolt in my last car. Shamed into fixing it myself.

We get enough of it everywhere already. Don’t drink sodas. Don’t eat chips. Don’t drink beer. Don’t go there. Don’t take that pill. But I guess that’s what you get living in the conservative south. ?

I love love love washing my Sport by hand. It's a fun chore that gives me time to admire all the neat details on the vehicle and take pride in taking care of it.

Also nice to spend some time in shorts and a t-shirt just hanging out in the sun for a couple of hours.

He said he gets off his lazy ass. He didn’t direct that towards anyone but himself.

You just directly called every Conservative who lives in the South an Ass. Not Cool.
