Back brakes growling fix

My ford dealership came to my house today and put in 4 new rubber bushings in the calipers, they now make no growling noise at all . This is the correct and only fix for that problem, note it only happens when in reverse. Thanks goes out to Alex and the Shults ford south team Pittsburgh pa
I would like to add that the bushings had no grease on them when disassembled . That is suspect.

Exactly The new rubber boots or bushings are made a bit heavy and re-engineering. Definitely solves the issues.

Looks like caliper pin bushing which indicate calipers were sticking not releasing causing brakes to drag hence noise.

Some of the videos I have seen where sounds like tug boat horn in a harbor certainly seemed like brakes not disengaging.

While all the complaints been rolling in looks like Ford took it seriously and found a root cause fix.

Yes Bill for sure on the sound, this morning in looking at the two bushings a big difference is seen on the replacement, a little bit heavier duty. Mine is a 21 started a year ago , never really bothered me , but glad to have it done .Had tech pull pads they were not affected at all .

OMG, the horror. Did the front brakes on my Raptor this summer in of all places my driveway.
Neighbors driving by slowed down like accident gawkers, lol.

Thanks for the post! The noise isn't the worst thing in the world considering all the other problems but it will be nice to get that corrected.

Was there grease on the caliper slide pins allowing the caliper to float freely?

A bunch of us on the Escape forum went through the first set of rear brakes pretty quickly. All sorts of speculation: brakes are biased to the rears now and so on.

Those of us that replaced the brakes ourselves noticed that the slide pins were dry.

I replaced the rear brakes on my '14 Escape in May 2017 at 32,000 miles. Greased the slide pins. I'm now at 96,000 miles, and the rear brake pads are fine.

It looks like Ford assembles vehicles without greasing the slide pins.

As far as I can tell, Ford has not published anything online that's publicly available, but a couple of sites listed the TSB number with an associated NHTSA Item Number. I would link directly to it if I could, but for some reason the NHTSA website does not all direct links to items.

1. Go to NHTSA.gov.
2. Click "Recalls."
3. Click the "EQUIPMENT" tab.
4. Click "search by NHTSA ID."
5. Type "10218630" in the search box and click "GO."

Unfortunately, there are no details about the work required to comply with the TSB, but at least we more than a service tech's word that one actually exists.

Yes, I read your first post. You're not the first to get this fix. Another poster said the tech who fixed his BS mentioned TSB 22-2326. I've been looking online for information about that TSB ever since, and until now I've not been able to find anything to confirm it exists.

I also have a 2017 escape , definitely a different system than my 2021 bronco first edition. Check out my post , I included pictures of the replacement bushings.

Do they come out for all your service?

A good amount, yes . New ford program that they started a few months ago.
