Wow, I didn't see this on their website the last time I checked them out. But its been some months.

Very cool.

I'm going to need to see an install guide though. Looks like a lot of interior panel removal and some drilling ... possibly.
I could be wrong but I’m pretty positive it’s as simple as drilling it straight into the plastic/headliner. That video looks like it holds well but I personally don’t like the idea of drilling a screw into my headliner. Maybe if I was into overlanding it’d be worth it though

@Mark S. @Chiefthepup @Rogerthat898 Yeesh. Self tapping screws into plastic? Idk if that's worth ruining my headliner.

I'm not an engineer, but self tapping screws into thin plastic, no matter how many you use, sounds like a recipe for disaster ... down the line.

Or is the screw long enough to self tap into the actual body?

The piece is nice, I'm going to have to investigate around that area, to see how properly it would be secured.

It's secured with six self taping screws and the load path would be mostly down, effectively shear value of the plastic. If you are securing a Molle Bag and a flashlight to this I would be very confident in it not being an issue. If you starting trying to hand belligerent weights to it yeh, you will have problems. But from what I've seen, and most other vehicles that have products like this made, self-tappers into liner / trim panels is standard and strong enough.

JCRs Molle for the front center console is also just attached with self tappers

I appreciate the insight. Thank you!

It's not the shearing/breaking that I would worry about so much as the possible 'rattle' a year or two down the road due to overuse, like you state.

That's fair, and I will say, I probably will go for these at some point in the next future, but I'll probably take the time to install them with riv-nuts and bolts instead of the screws. Just because if I need to drop the liner again, I want un-install and re-install of this panel to be easier and more trustworthy

Now you're talking. It's a fabulous piece. It just probably needs a better way to fasten it.

Hmmm. Why would you think a riv-nut would be any more secure in plastic than a screw?

Marginally more secure just from backing out. But mostly just so I can uninstall / reinstall with a little more confidence. I don't have a lot of faith in putting selftaping screws back into holes they were taken out of with regards to backing out
