Hello! My wife recently accidentally broke one of the window control buttons on the driver side.
Everything was still working, just the plastic top was broken off.

I ordered part# LJ6Z-14529-CA SW-8563 and verified that is what I actually received. Genuine Motorcraft part.

I put it in just now, and the front left window won't respond at all and the mirrors won't respond either.
I took it off and reseated the connectors and made 100% they are connected.
From what I can tell, it is all one fuse. The other windows go up and down just fine.

Any thoughts?

Surely it is a simple swap with no programming needed.

Thank you!
Steven

I knew my unit worked, but the button was physically broken. I just took mine apart to see if it was possible to swap whatever electronics were inside. Took it apart carefully, and the board was essentially just sandwiched between the upper and lower plastic. Swap was easy, just some thin guitar picks to hold the clips open as you separated the halves.

That worked perfectly. I then started searching around to find out why. I gave up and asked Gemini, and it kept finding service manuals, then hit on that. A little Googling, then yep. That was it.

The new unit must be programed with FDRS. You can not just switch out units and it will work like the old days. Or fortunately you can do what you did and swap circuit boards.

I fully believe it.
Can't swap out a window switch? I would pay extra for a hand crank at this point..
