I would not buy any car, truck, or suv if I had to pay tariffs on it. So I will only buy American made ones or used vehicles if I need one later this year. If enough people do this and sales drop for say a vehicle made in Mexico. The company making that vehicle would move its manufacturing into this country if they want the sales numbers.

I would go deeper into this and reciprocal tariffs but I am not going to type out a book for you to read. Do your own research people.

in this context, are you OK with imported parts? 100% of all US assembled vehicles have between 30% to 80% content that is imported. Imported parts will also be subject to tariffs…

with this info in mind, how would you go about choosing a car? Also keep in mind, over 80% of replacement parts (like your maintenance needs) are imported…which will also be tariffed based on what we know as of today…

And there's your politics...
just stating what I’ve seen - there hasn’t been much talk in that channel about the impacts of tariffs to the average Joe

…I try to keep myself informed so always checking news site all the way from CNN to Fox News, Infowars…

I know but I mean…tons of other sources explaining the real cost, but nothing on Fox in recent times…it’s like the topic is being avoided all together there ???

that was…a long time ago…February 25! Looks like a video, not even close to be on the main page where I shop - so old stuff…anything from a couple days ago with detailed analysis on impacts - now that the tariffs seem more clear?

like this one: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cgrgj51gl25o
https://www.foxnews.com/media/republican-lawmaker-wants-restore-tariff-power-back-congress-away-from-president-trump

All news sources have their biases, even FOX News. Clearly you believe that tariffs do more harm than good. Just as clearly, there are many who disagree with you. Time will tell...

Correct on both questions

But let’s wait and see if tariffs go into affect

And orders placed prior to tariffs going into affect will be the price negotiated with the dealership

It does seem fairly certain this time: “tariffs would go into effect on April 2, the US would start to collect on April 3. The tariffs will be on top of levies already in place, the tariffs would result in $100 billion of new annual revenue to the US.
tariffs are being cast as “permanent” and no exceptions will be negotiated
Shares of General Motors Co., Ford Motor Co. and Stellantis NV dropped in after-hours trading, with GM and Ford declining more than 5% as of 6 p.m. in New York.”
That new $100 billion of new annual revenue is going to paid by the consumers (you) through higher costs being passed on by the manufacturers

Canadian content will continue to flow tax free to Mexico…parts for the Sport can be made locally or imported from other countries for cheaper than US made parts / example tires, Ford could source tires that are made in Mexico, China, Europe or Canada tariff free to replace the US made ones.

this approach would protect the price, even with a 25% tariff, but eliminate more US jobs…
The Bronco Sport will end up being a lot less expensive in Canada than the U.S. since no tariffs exist between Mexico and Canada

You’re already paying the costs of tariffs on cars and have been for years. No “US-built” car is truly 100% American sourced, and everything from steel to microprocessors to entire assemblies come from outside our borders.

None of this is anywhere near new. The US has historically tariffed many imported goods, and well as being tariffed by other nations on our exports.

The only difference now is that we’re actually paying attention to them because the current administration is both reciprocating existing tariffs as well as using them punitively as political leverage.

Apologize if this has already been asked. What is the percentage of U.S. parts that go into the BS that would not be subject to the tariff/tax? I thought vehicle window stickers use to show component content from each country.
